Kellogg's just shot themselves in the foot. I don't know how much the rest of you know about snack food social marketing (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is over at Wendy's where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in the snack food biz, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance. What this means is the snack food connoisseurs, after hearing about this, are not going to want to purchase either flavor combined or otherwise, nor will they purchase any of Kellogg's other products. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Kellogg's has alienated an entire market with this move. Kellogg's, publicly apologize and cancel the entire Pop Tart brand or you can kiss your business goodbye.

On a scale of 0 to 100, probably something like a score of 3.5. I used to be a bit more naive in my youth, but even looking back I don't know why. I was born into a single mother home who had to basically work two jobs to barely provide for me, my father was a deadbeat that the government wasn't too concerned about chasing down for child support etc., and as a nation the U.S.A. does its best to keep the poor from having any sort of upward mobility or even just normal quality of life that should be expected. I just count myself lucky that the USA is still better than a large of number of countries, so I was privileged to be born there, among other things. Also, grateful that I ended up living in Florida (was born in Kentucky) which allowed me to go to university basically debt-free without having to join the military or something.

Oh man I spent a lot of my young life living in Southern AL and the Florida panhandle (split between Mobile, Pensacola, and Destin), and this sounds like the worst idea ever. I've actually been to that Oyster Bar called Florabama a couple of times and it's always been a sort of surreal experience. The first time was on a trip with my mom and her friends when I was in middle school. During that trip I witnessed the glorious Mullet Toss event in person. A true cultural monument, I tell ya. I almost got hit by a guy parachuting down onto the beach as well because I wasn't paying attention. Only reason I didn't get ran over by the guy was because some other guy actually tackled me out of the way and saved my ass. I went back with some friends like 10 years later when partying with some friends and it was just as terrible as I remembered.

I thought that at first, but honestly Panama City is probably the trashiest city in the entire south and is a perfect fit for this sort of show. I lived about an hour away from Panama City when I was in Destin and anytime we went that way to cruise the strip or whatever we always something absolutely heinous, without fail. I remember one time we ended up in some trashy trailer park (probably looking to score weed) and we ran into a bunch of guys who were trying to convince us to try these 'scoops' they were all getting high on. I'm like 90% sure they were huffing a combination of bleach and gasoline. After seeing that, we all just decided to get out of dodge and made our way back to Destin.

I'm not afraid of trains or anything haha. I live in Japan and am posting from a subway as we speak. Amtrak has just shown they have kind of poor standards and have shown incidents of negligence in the past. Cars are of course more dangerous when you look at the statistics. However, Amtrak is pretty terrible compared to other leaders in the industry. I don't think Japan has had a fatality from a train accident since like the 70s or something? That's how it should be.

After a quick search it does look like a much less severe derailment happened in 2000 as well, but yeah until those two most of them were between 1940-1965. That's the sort of track record I want to see, and it's doubly impressive when you consider the amount of trains and people they are moving absolutely dwarfs something like Amtrak. I'm pretty sure the train system in Tokyo alone handles more passengers per day than Amtrak does in an entire year!

I don't live in the US anymore, but if I did I would never ever set foot on an Amtrak train again. When I was a kid, I traveled on an Amtrak train with my mother (I can't remember the exact line but someone between Alabama and Tennessee I believe- I was like 7) and about halfway through the trip the entire train jostled for a bit and then came to an abrupt stop. It wasn't bad at all but definitely surprised all the passengers. I decided I was going to run to the front and see if I could find out what happened from the conductor or whatever. Turns out we had plowed completely through a double wide mobile home that had been stuck on the tracks at a crossing. Could have easily been a worse scenario I guess as it ended up just delaying us for several hours as they cleared the tracks, but it shook me even as a kid.

I would agree with you on the bolded if both cases dealt with the same parties and his stance was dependent on the actual constitutional issues. The problem is that on the whole he seems to be okay with giving leeway to corporations, while not giving the same to private citizens. It's so transparent with these people that the content of the cases/issues doesn't actually matter, just who they are going to affect. I mean, you don't even have to take the second example into consideration to consider that. Anyone who wants to nix net neutrality because it infringes on the first amendment rights of corporations are trying to directly trample on the first amendment rights of normal citizens. So yes, just like almost every other Republican under the sun he is a walking contradiction that happens to always lean towards corporate interests.

The RNG has been pretty damn nice to me so far. As is my norm with these types of games (X-Com etc.) I usually savescum a bit in the beginning to at least get a core team and start going full ironman once I am in the swing of things. I went into that dropship destruction story mission with just 1 heavy and 3 mediums and had a tough enough time (2 pilots dead + 1 mech cored) that I decided to reload my save in the last system and grind a bit. One of the first missions I ran into was a 2 and a half skull assassination that was literally just a Stalker and a Spider. I obviously just ignored the Spider and focused on knocking down the Stalker over and over until the meat was dead. I had not expected much salvage and only had 2/8, but the 3rd piece actually fell into my lot as well! Praise Blake! Once I was able to add that tank of a machine into my primary lance, I started rolling over missions with ease which reduced my repair costs a ton. I now have two mechbays full of mostly Assault/Heavies and the game is starting to open up a lot more. I've only lost one pilot so far now that I decided to go all-in on this run. Indiana was a fearless new recruit who had the perfect skillset for my shiny lostech Highlander. And on his 3rd mission he bravely held a narrow pass against 4 heavies while the rest of the lance cleared out a medium lance and and a base. A lucky hit to the head ended his heroic last stand, but not before he took out 2 of them and stripped armor off the rest.

They haven't aged THAT well in some respects, but I think the Stackpole books are the best. Especially the Warrior and Blood of Kerensky triologies. I also think The Saga of the Gray Death Legion trilogy is excellent and sets up a lot of new stuff in the lore. That just comes down to different content. A super serious Yu Yu Hakusho would just be plain bad. It gets a bit dark at times but it never really gets as dark or mature as FMA. So there is never really a need for those performances. I will agree that the performances in FMA are probably better, though I've only heard them in passing as I still prefer the JP voices for a lot of characters. I think what sets YYH apart so much is that it is honestly better than the original JP script, which is fairly flat and boring. They do inject a lot of extra humor and change dialogue lines up compared to the original Japanese, and it all works for the most part.

Yeah, those two are great but I don’t think you can make a case that they are actually better than the original Japanese voices. It just comes down to preference. Both have stellar quality in both JP and EN. I was mostly pointing out that YYH dub is one of the rare cases where I feel like the English version is far better than the original. The original Japanese isn’t terrible, but it’s very forgettable and the writing/dialogue is where it really falls flat. The dub injects a lot of much needed personality into the characters. Even random throwaway characters have some personality.

Gundam Wing is enjoyable but flawed. It will always be a guilty pleasure of mine but it really does have a ton of issues. It will always be worth it for the Relena/Heero scenes. Any Wing fans should check out the recent manga, Glory of the Losers. It fixes up a bunch of plot holes and improves the pacing.

It’s never worth your time to actually try to apply any logic to female characters in Gundam. At least she’s a stupid teenager so I can believe it. I meant it is the goddamn Red Comet himself. Recoa in Zeta is the one that really bothers me. How many times does she switch sides? Regarding the newtype stuff, I still think 0083 does it better in a way. 08th is easily one of my favorites but Shiro is still a shonen style “genius” character. He never struggles and is basically good at everything. Kou is a sucker at the start and gets styled on over and over. And even when he does get skills at the end he’s doping himself up to stay in the fight and shit. Always liked how gritty it feels at that point in the story.

Yeah, I always saw him as an anti-hero whose quest for revenge eventually leaves him warped as well. I don't see his heel turn in CCA as strange or unbelievable as others, though I do think they did a sloppy job selling it in the movie. He basically has to deal with corruption and bullshit on both sides during Z despite actually trying (or pretending) to work towards peace.

It really depends on how much time you want to dedicate to it. I personally think it's better to watch the full series, but it's not a must. The movie trilogy gives you more than enough basis to watch the rest of the UC stuff. I would personally choose one or the other and then move into some of the OVAs that are based in the early UC timeline such as War in the Pocket, 08th MS team, and 0083 Stardust Memory. The recent Origin movies are also highly recommended. From there you will want to move into Zeta and if you are still interested continue on into some of the post-Zeta stuff. Whatever you do, don't watch the Zeta movies though. Unlike the original trilogy, they are nigh unwatchable and the series is the only way to go.

As with most places, it can vary from school to school. I used to work in public schools here so I saw both good and bad ones. Overall though, there is a very serious lack of teaching independent critical thinking in Japan which personally bothers me. A large majority of teachers revert to rote memorization because the entire system is based on a fairly archaic system of entrance exams that are forced on the kids at an early age. On the whole, both systems have very large failings so it's kind of a 'choose your poison' situation IMO.

Yeah, I am a bit worried about this as well. My wife mostly uses Japanese in the house, so our kid's English exposure is limited as work keeps me from spending too much time with them outside of the weekends. My wife and I also fall into the habit of speaking to each other in Japanese too often. Need to break that habit... My son can understand my English fairly well at this point, but still doesn't speak it at all outside of simple phrases. Probably going to start putting him in an English program as well in the next year or so just like you decided to. Hopefully it's not too late at that point.

I started living in Japan about 10 years ago, but was honestly planning to return to live in the States with my family eventually. I hoped to time it for when my eldest son entered middle school, as I think that's the point where most Japanese schools go to shit. After everything in the last 5 years or so, I just decided to apply for Permanent Residency here (fingers crossed!) and am looking to just buy a house in Osaka. I'm not going to put my son and daughter in schools where 'lockdown drills' and such are becoming the norm. Earthquake drills and such are already scary enough, but at least Japan takes such natural disasters seriously, unlike gun violence in the U.S. That's just one thing that bothers me on a long list including but not limited it to: Healthcare costs, Ignorant populace with too much power thanks to outdated electoral college and gerrymandering etc., job stability, and the ever increasing wealth gap. Japan has its fair share of issues, but I feel like the positives outweigh the bad for the most part.

Florida Best: I'd personally give it to my hometown of Destin, FL but there isn't really much to do there outside of beach activities and no industry besides tourism. It's just really pretty! I've heard Tampa Bay is one of the better cities to live in though, and if I had to move back for any reason that is where I would look. Worst: Miami. Terrible traffic. Lots of crime. Even the beaches are terrible! I would give Tallahassee a close second. Despite being the State Capital it has no real personality of its own.

Well, there is the point that he is literally the only person on that school trip that is interested in the science. It's not like they retroactively ret-conned him into being a nerd or something. Also, going organic would have it's own logical shortfall that would have to be made up. Do you give him that are useless and can't actually shoot webs, therefore nixing his most iconic trait (web-slinging)? Or do you just asspull and say that his forearms are transformed into actual organic web that don't actually exist in nature? This argument has always just bothered me because the entire logic of the claim is based on a complete misunderstanding of how spider-webs actually work. You know what I mean. While it is all pseudoscience at best, the idea of him getting the proportionate powers of a spider makes scene mathematically. It’s not that they are actually stronger than humans of course, it’s just how linear size/scaling works. So from our perspective, even every day spiders (and other arachnids and insects)do seem super agile and strong because of their speed and ability to lift way more than their weight. That is where the entire basis for his power set comes from. So, it’s pseudoscience but the creators were drawing from specific spider traits for his power set. I was just pointing out that web shooters are literal fantasy and even the pseudoscience they were using wouldn’t easily explain. Of course they could have just made it up as a new thing. Spiders, for the most part, don’t have anything resembling a web shooter. Peter Parker did not invent mechanical web spinnerets, he invented web shooters. Maybe all the organic web fans hail from Australia. If there is one place on earth where spiders can zip around on their webs through the air like spider-man, it’s fucking Australia. Of course I am probably giving the creators too much credit anyway as I remember in his origin story called spiders insects at least once.

Okay, I am at work and couldn't listen to the audio. This makes a LOT more sense. I was wondering how the physics of it worked and started looking at Wikipedia to no avail. No, they don't. Or most of them don't. Spiders spin webs then slowly manipulate them to build webs. You aren't 'wrong' in that it's technically possible to apply logic that since his powers are biological then he should be given organic webs. Which would mean he could spin webs, not shoot them. There is a big difference there. Spiders tend to spin webs, and then just let wind and gravity do the work for them when creating webs. Which would basically make web-slinging an impossibility in its current form. I guess he could spin up a web first, then climb up to a building, anchor it, and then swing down. Not quite as exciting, huh? I mean, this entire discussion is an interesting thought experiment, but I worry for anyone who actually thinks a change like this would improve on the character. If some of you had a say in Spidey's creation back in the 60s, you would have probably managed the amazing feat of sabotaging what was to become one of the most iconic and popular characters on the planet.

The irony in this post is palpable. Neither of the explanations are more convoluted than the other. In one you have to suddenly assume that he would develop a biological power that doesn't have an actual counterpart in nature. And in the other you have to assume he is just really smart and can invent things. Both of these are leaps of faith, although I personally see the latter as being more logical since spiders don't actually have web-shooters. They have web spinnerets. If you want to completely fall on logic for this discussion, the only logical choice for a biological web ability would be one that spiders actually have, spinnerets. Also, the only other ability that is tweaked for dramatic effect is the spider-sense. All of his other powers are literally the proportionate abilities of a spider. He doesn't get Superman level super-strength from the bite. He gets the proportionate strength of a spider.

I think the web-shooters were part of his shtick while he was doing the wrestler/talk show stuff before the whole Uncle Ben shit went down. Dan Slott gets a lot of haters out there, but on the whole his run was excellent IMO because he actually tackled a lot of these little issues with the character. One of the themes during the whole Superior Spider-Man arc is how Doc Ock feels like Peter Parker has completely wasted his potential and actually sets out to correct a lot of those mistakes.

Completely different context and message. The web shooter thing is not supposed to just show him as a clever, quick thinking fighter. It's supposed to show that he has the potential for a genius level intellect, but unlike basically every other Marvel super-brain he lacks the resources and situation to really put it to use (until the recent Slott run). The web-shooters are one way to exemplify this trait, because he is creating what is basically a space-age industrial strength material in his spare time during chemistry class.

I was one of the people who chimed in with knowing him, although I admittedly don't know him very well. Was mostly just chiming in to say that he is a legitimately part of the games industry here in Japan. The thing about painting him as a conman, is you have to think what he would gain from this accusation. The JP games industry (which is obviously his main career) is a very small and connected industry and even if he is 100% correct in these allegations, this might not end very well for him in regards to future jobs and such. Basically, even if he is 100% right in this case he doesn't have that much to gain but has a lot to lose. Just my 2 cents.

Nothing to announce atm! In regards to input lag, I had a friend in the FGC who uses a high speed camera to research this stuff break it down to me once. He said there were a variety of factors that make a certain amount of input lag unavoidable on modern consoles. The biggest factor is obviously the type of monitor and will vary from type to type. That plus a bit of emulation overheard means that most games of this sort will have 4-6 fps of input lag. Some other factors that supposedly add to it are controller processing times (especially wireless) and HDMI switchers etc.

I'm not a huge audiophile, but I absolutely cannot live without some sort of barebones 5.1 system at least. I convinced my parents to buy a crappy all-in-one Sony system from Best Buy when I was in high school and took that with me to college. The sound quality deteriorated at an astonishing rate, but it was still better than stereo! When I got my first 'real' paycheck about 10 years ago, one of the first things I bought along was a surround sound system. I was still using a 21" monitory and decided to buy a 5.1 system over a new HD TV. I ended up buying a TV from a friend who was moving soon after anyway. That first system I bought was a fairly nice Denon Amp/5.1 combo system that set me back about $450-500 bucks. It actually lasted until very recently, and I am pretty sure one of the capacitors when bad inside the amp or something. It started making a buzzing noise that sounded like really bad ground loop (which ended up not being the issue after eliminating as many factors as I could). I had just gotten a bonus from my company, so the timing was good and I ended up buying a 'used' (bought but never used) Sony HT-SS370 system. It's a bit out-dated now, but was an improvement over my last one by quite a bit, especially in the convenience factor as I used to just have 3 optical ports to run everything through, and the new Amp has HDMI pass-through and such. I need to get a new pair of 5.1 headphones sometime in the near future. I have a pair of the Sony PS4 headphones from years ago, but they were one of the models known for kind of weak build quality and are almost in pieces at this point. They still technically work, but the plastic above the cups is busted so they won't sit right unless I rig them up with some tape or something. They are too far gone to bother though.

Possible? Yeah, I will bite that it might be possible to nullify hundreds of AT-AT blaster bolts, despite the fact that we have never seen force powers work on anything bigger than handheld blasters. However, I just don't feel like it is plausible. You have to make several leaps of faith to get to that point. I really do feel like the entire point is to drive home for the viewer that Ben is completely unhinged, while also forcing you to also hope against hope that he survived (if they didn't already catch the hints he wasn't there.)

Most of these are not comparable in any way however. Just look at the sheer number of shots being fired. Even force super speed couldn't cope with that many shots. You would need god-tier speed force level time dilation powers to do it. And that's not even going into the fact that (I am not an expert here) normal hand-sized blasters have nowhere near the destructive force of AT-AT blasters. I feel like the AT-AT blaster bolts are going to be a LOT more powerful. The leap in logic that others have managed to stop handheld blaster shots, so Luke should have been able to stop artillery sized blaster bolts is insane. It's like seeing a video of a samurai splitting a BB bullet in half and then just assuming he can also stop howitzer cannons with a sword. While it is not COMPLETELY out of the realm of possibility, there really is no precedent in the main canon for a force user being able to stop such an onslaught. Also, Kylo doesn't believe that Luke could survive the onslaught out of any sort of logic. It comes from a place of fear and insecurity and was meant to showcase that.

That was probably worded badly. Of course you don't need precedent for force powers. If that were the case, he wouldn't have been able to pull off the force illusion. I was just pointing out that all of the precedents he threw out to defend the idea that he could survive don't actually match up as we have never seen anyone stop anything with the destructive force of an AT-AT blast, let alone dozens of them. In that last comment you quoted, I just wanted to make clear that although it may be in the realm of possibility, the argument he is using to push the idea was a bit weak. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter because what we got was far more interesting than anything that others have put forward.

Okay, so they are using electo and vibro blades that just happen to have an electro-plasma attachment also on the blade edges, but not the same type of electro-plasma that lightsabers use. Nah, real talk but Cima is just a knock-off Haman and that would mean cutting out one of the most glorious death scenes in the entire Gundam IP. The entire issue with the Nina/Gato plot is that there are minor plot holes as a result (why doesn't she recognize him from 100m+ away in the hangar etc.) but as a whole it works for the story IMO. 0083 is great because it's not about some reluctant but altruistic hero who is forced to defend his friends and ideals like 90% of Gundam series. Kou is just a petty jackass who wants revenge for being styled upon by Gato. Adding a story beat where his girl is actually longing for some of that Nightmare of Solomon mojo just makes it more personal and interesting. It was handled sloppily though. The recent 0083 manga does a much better job in that regard.

I am generally against capital punishment for normal crimes, especially because there isn't a perfect justice system out there and innocents can just as easily be put on death row. However, this is a monster who carried out a terrorist attack on innocents just going about their daily lives. If I remember right, right after he was hunted down and arrested for the sarin attack his followers sent a parcel bomb to a politician and ended up blowing off the hand of an office worker. The government has done what they can to snuff the cult out, but I still believe there are a few thousand active followers out there, though they are supposedly monitored very closely. I have a lot of issues with the Japanese justice system and how capital punishment is handled here, but I really do feel like everyone is better off without this mass murderer around to inspire anyone.

I've actually started playing this a bit after my brother got annoyed at some of the recent decisions with Destiny 2 and asked me to join him. I'm still not completely sold on it, but I am having more fun than I did when I first picked it up years ago. The weapons still lack the oomph and wow factor that you get with Destiny IMO, but hopefully I can get more loot to make that better. I ended up dropping some money on platinum and picked up the Mirage bundle + Nova warframe. Mirage seems cool but I really don't understand how to use the toolkit so far. That final disco ball move is pretty useful though. The weapons that came with the bundle are the real highlight. Nova warframe seems a bit underwhelming. Probably should have done more research before buying that one....

So I guess the JP version gave out 20 5 star select tickets during this holiday season. I used my first batch to get Beatrix, who is one of the few characters I didn't manage to pull despite burning a ton of tickets on her. Not sure how to use the other batch of tickets. It would probably make more sense to use the ticket to get a dupe and push Beatrix or another 6 star character to 7 stars, but I would rather go with someone new and just grind for tickets to upgrade them to 7 star later. I was going to pick 2B but I guess collab characters aren't included in the ones you can choose. Makes sense I guess. I am leaning towards Balthier, Sephiroth, or Merc Ramza.
