That's awesome! I wish we had Sephora in the UK. Getting one-on-one time with a MUA is invaluable. I'm thinking of taking a class at MAC, but it's £50 per 90 min session. It's redeemable against product but still expensive.

Anyone else find it weird that the game revels so much in the death count? I'm really enjoying the game more than I expected, and I enjoyed seeking out all of the strawberries in Chapter 1. It just seems strange that the game let's me hide the speed-run timer and use assists but it won't hide the death count.

Thread: Help - can't finish games any more!
Try not to worry about it. I’ve spent 15 hours of Dead Cells, and it’s lots of fun but I can’t beat the first boss. Pretty obvious I’m never going to finish the game. I found myself unable to progress in Yoku’s Island Express because I found navigation a chore and I often couldn’t find the next objective, so I’ve given up. It’s a shame when games are a mismatch for completion, but most games are about more than the ending.

Every time I see SNES games played at non-4:3 ratio I die inside a little. It’s like all the folks that think Street Fighter 3 sprites are supposed to be wide and dumpy. I guarantee that no SNES developer was designing their art to be viewed at 1:1 ratio. I did a lot of Amiga artwork in the 90s and dealing with the art ratio was just part of the process.

GBA didn’t have any other option, and any rotating circle is a pain. But you’re right, I guess a couple of decades of emulators have made this the new standard.

How can I change the artwork on the default games? Do I need to disable all the original games and upload new ROMs (and I assume lose all my saves and waste space)? Can I disable default games individually?

Spent my morning wowing Lance with my hang-gliding skills. Pilotwings on the mini works great, and it really benefits from save states so you can retry events. You can use Hakchi for as NES or SNES but you must have a unique copy of Hakchi per device.

I remember playing Wolfenstein 3D on my mum’s black and white 286 laptop. The LCD screen would leave a trail behind anything that moved, so the whole game had a smearing motion, especially when turning. Pretty interesting tbh. Who is still playing on a display with motion blur? Are people using a cheap LCD from the 90s?

I always feel like an imposter in LGBT threads. I’m a straight cis man that dabbles in genderqueer aesthetic and crossdressing. According to some transgender umbrellas this is inclusive, but other trans folk hate people like me coopting the term, so I tread carefully. I’m starting a new job in three weeks and I’m going to get new acrylics done. I expect my aesthetic will be mostly masculine but I hope I can work in a bit of eye makeup. Hello, everyone!

Ha, I became unstuck. Turns out I didn’t understand the slug mechanic at all. I didn’t realise that vacuuming them did anything other than avoid the knockback. It’s quite obscure that vacuuming slugs will destroy certain blockades. With that in mind, I’ll have to be prepared for other progression mechanics I miss out on.

Anyone else bump off this after a short while? I'm finding it so hard to navigate the world without any sort of guide or signposts for basic route finding, and I don't know what my next objective is. Admittedly I find this to be a common with most Metroidvanias. Once I become stuck I'll backtrack and be completely lost for a long time. Yoku makes this worst because the pinball makes the routes especially strange.

I played for another half hour, running into the NPC that said I should plant the seed by the salty air and gulls. I tiresomely found a route to the beach only to find nothing. I think I’m probaly done with this, sadly. I’m just too bad at it. Edit; I like the game lots in theory, and it must be great for most other people. I just am especially bad at this type of progress block.

Looks like I won't get a CRT any time soon. I found a 21" Trinitron nearby but my gf is very opposed to a CRT coming into the house. D: She has a point that it would have to live in a separate room, and I wouldn't go there to play games. With that in mind, I'm reconsidering something like a Framemeister. I hope something better comes along. I'm going to Japan in a couple of months and I'm torn on whether it would be very bad to pick up any retro consoles there, because the TV input is too much of a headache.

I remember King Arthur's Men on SNES (of all games) being featured on the TV show Bad Influence and they made a big deal about the surround sound, despite the fact that most people were still using RF for their SNES in the UK

How plug-n-play is the OSSC? I have the RGB modded PC Engine, and RGB cables for my Sega Saturn. I have Component and RGB cables for my GC and PS2. Component looks pretty decent directly into the TV, but maybe this would look much better.
