Let's clear something up about Marcus Sellars. He is not an insider. He is not reliable. His 'rumors' should not be posted here or in new threads here. What Marcus Sellars does is 'rumormongering'. He goes out of his way to find 'rumors' on the internet and passes them off as his own. He doesn't care if the rumors are by some random person, if they were sent to him by someone unverified, or if they were even posted on sites like era or reddit first. He will read them, post them on his twitter, and pretend he was the first one to start that rumor. The Dark Souls stuff was being rumored on Era by vern originally, then Marcus Sellars passed it off as his own leak. All of his 3DS leaks (which are false) are taken straight from 4chan. All of his other leaks are just taken from other people. Even his most recent tweet about a Nintendo Direct on March 8th. He doesn't have a source, he just saw this tweet and copied it. To sum up. Don't bother listening to Marcus Sellars. Even if something he posts does turn out right. He just got it from somewhere else and is pretending he has access to 'inside info'.

Thread: NPD Blog: Switch Will Be Highest Selling Console This Year in US, Red Dead 2 Top Selling Game
Console hardware being at its highest since 2012 is extremely impressive. The PS4 has performed extremely well each year and Xbox One is doing great this year thanks to the One X launch and other initiatives. Switch is positioned to have a really strong holiday quarter so it'll be interesting to see what sort of numbers it can pull then. I think this is a fairly interesting statistic to point out in the console space. There was a point where packaged software releases and dollar sales were declining but it seems that there has been a rebound lately led by a strong Nintendo as well as new opportunities for digital indie developers at retail. Not to mention that retail is still a viable distribution model for console. Digital sales being up is to be expected and it's been really interesting to see multiple titles over the past year that now have 50% or more digital share at launch. Fortnite is certainly a huge driver, but I do have to admit it's a bit funny that one of the biggest drivers in the console space isn't covered by NPD in its actual tracking. I'll admit that it's great we finally have digital sales factored in via some publishers but I do feel the NPD releases each month fail to show just how big the console and PC games industry is in the US by being unable to track digital sales from non Steam PC stores, certain publishers, free to play games, subscription services and post launch monetisation. I'm conscious that NPD/EEDAR estimate this data in other paid for reports but it would be nice to get some public data on the console and PC games landscape instead of being limited to full game software sell through rankings. I know I'm pretty much talking into the void here given how closed off the games industry is to public sales data unlike the movie industry. But it would be nice.

Thread: Capcom stock down 11.30%, Monster Hunter World sales cited as being a "risk"
The layman explanation for this is as such. Capcom has a hit with Monster Hunter World and that led to record profits in the prior fiscal year. 7.9 million units were shipped in the prior fiscal year (ending March 31st 2018) and Capcom is expecting this game and other catalog titles to perform strongly this year, targeting approx 18m unit sales of catalog titles for this fiscal year. Capcom is betting on continued sales of Monster Hunter World as it implements a live service aspect for the game as well as repeat sales of older titles. The issue there is Monster Hunter World sales seem to be slowing faster than expected and the live service element hasn't really done much. It's Capcom's fastest and best selling game ever but the majority of sales were recognised in the prior fiscal year, not the current fiscal year. There is also the worry that performance of MHW among existing owners will be lower than expected as post launch engagement and spend drops. Then you have Capcom's catalog lineup which has underperformed and dragged profits down over the past few years. We're talking about titles like Street Fighter V, Dead Rising 4, Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, Resident Evil 7 etc... which fell short of targets that Capcom set. On top of that it's easy to see that Capcom has got nowhere in mobile and is struggling in its amusement and other segments. The outlook for this year is based on Capcom growing its consumer games business through continued catalog sales, new game launches, mobile games and esports. The latter two items is already a tough sell for Capcom and I've explained above why catalog sales and expectations from MHW may be lower than expected. New major title launches this year include Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil Remake 2. The expectations for new games this year is fairly low with a target of 7.4m unit sales, this number also includes other new titles such as MM11 and MHW PC which are not expected to become million sellers this year. Essentially it means that Capcom isn't really expecting its major titles this year to be on the same level as past hits and again there is the worry that these titles don't really do anything to grow post launch engagement and spend or help out in other growing segments like esports. The main reason for the drop, as noted in the OP, is mainly due to MHW expectations post launch. But the above is also an explanation of why investors may be cautious too.

I'm not really sure tbh. I haven't looked into it myself. But you are right that Europe is generally a bit weaker for Splatoon 2. But I usually lump it in with NA where it is also notably weaker than the more popular mainstay titles like Zelda, Mario Kart and Odyssey. When you look at the actual numbers you'll find that Zelda, Mario Kart and Odyssey usually sell within a certain range each month whereas Splatoon 2 is notably lower. Not significantly so though. After all it is still a top seller on Switch.

Looking at the numbers, The Crew 2 is much lower than expected, especially when compared to the original game. I'm conscious GfK data is pretty much not worth looking at given lack of digital sales, but I'd be surprised if it gets anywhere near Crew 1's opening with digital. Crash did well for a year late port. Switch ver. opening was higher than DKTF but not significantly so. Wolf 2 absolutely bombed on Switch. It sold less than the packaged PC version did in its first week. I didn't know people even purchased packaged PC games anymore. Switch is suffering from a similar issue to prior Nintendo consoles where mature games never sold well.

Thread: PAL Charts - Week 26, 2018
Let me put it this way. The PS4 and XB1 versions sold almost the same amount as the Switch version this week alone. Which isn't much different from what those two versions sold last week. Wolf 2 has been out for almost a year. It didn't bomb everywhere, it just isn't on par with more popular shooters for obvious reasons. Hence my explanation that the Switch version did terribly all things considered. The reason I mention mature games is because it's a longstanding trend. Skyrim did well but others have suffered.

Everyone always focuses on the negative lol. Crash did well on Switch, as do other games each week. I'm specifically talking about Wolf2 above and the trend of mature games in general. As I noted. Some mature games do well. Mature games didn't sell on Wii but that didn't stop Call of Duty and Resident Evil selling well. It's just they never sold on the same level as other platforms of course. The reason I note mature games is because it's the same cycle with every recent hardware generation, both home and portable. The majority of units sold on PS/XB are mature games whereas the least number of units sold on Nintendo platforms are mature games. Whilst some mature games like Skyrim and Nintendo pushing Bayonetta has led to good results, the majority of mature games don't sell on the same level as other games.

It depends on the game but I think in general that is true for most. The reason I'm calling out mature games is because whilst late ports may sell X. Late ports of mature games in general usually sell lower than X.

There is nothing wrong with posting positively about Xbox. Would would lead to a ban is engaging in console war like behaviour on this forum. Keep that stuff to twitter or whatever. There is no place for it here.

Sure. It's a Chinese name. The username and my avatar is based on Zhuge Liang who was a Chinese strategist during the Three Kingdoms period. I'll use Google Translate as that might be an easier way to share with others. If you click the voice icon under the Chinese text you'll hear how it's pronounced.
