I heard of all these movies but Old Fashioned, so I went and found the synopsis. It sounds like a parody synopsis, except it isn't: I don't doubt they would make a movie about the boys that turns all the jokes in this thread into the actual movie :v

Thread: "Reach out to/educate bigots" ~ to those who say this, you ever actually tried it?
I didn't have any success in my attempts, and I always tried the mildest approach possible. It made me lose a lot of 'friends' and acquaintances, especially people of my own age and circles. Usually, they were the type ''of course we must respect POC/LGBT/women'' but made horrible jokes, did a lot of slut-shaming, casual racism, especially horrible transphobia, homophobia, and so on. On the other hand, my parents (from a very fundamentalist church) changed A LOT of their behaviors influenced by diversity training at the company (my father) and podcast-like radio programs (my mother) which tackled these subjects. My father argued with racists at his work in defense of his black colleague (he is white) and my mother changed her views on sexual harassment completely. It was nice to hear her saying ''It's never the woman's fault, she could be naked on the street, nobody has the right to harass her!''. So I believe the education has indeed a positive impact, but maybe people receive it better from someone they see as an authority somehow. Maybe, if it was me trying to change them, they could have ended up worse.

I believe the official criteria for Latino is being from Latin America (meaning places who speak languages born from Latin in America), which includes all American countries except the USA and Canada. Hispanic would be a person from a Spanish speaking country (for example, a person from Brazil would be Latino but not Hispanic). But I agree with you that if it's a ''race'' is something that can be discussed, since you can also be black, white, etc being Latin. I have the impression that it's also meant to categorize people who are way more miscegenated (in some cases the ancestry almost untrackable) than the average mixed-race person in the US, for example.

Brazil is going downhill since 2013 at least. Every day things get grimmer and the tiny progressive steps we did are getting erased. Violence and poverty escalating. One of my best friends are going to Europe after getting his Italian citizenship and I envy him deeply tbh. I have a distant German ancestor but I don't think it's enough like in Italy's case. I'm seeing a lot of people I know (especially LGBT people) fleeing the country and I don't blame them at all. I would do the same if it was just a little easier. This country will only get worse for a long time from now on, and the minorities and the working class will suffer the worst part of it. It's literally a matter of life and death.

Thread: What is the name of this musical genre? (+ suggestions)
I have quite a few songs I really like but I can't really tell to what genre they belong to. Spotify didn't help too. Generally, they are songs meant to express a specific sultry, sexy and dark mood, and often used in bar scenes in movies TV shows, but the ones I like are always a song a little different from the overall sound of the artist. I think it sounds a little bit old school too, with a nice heavy bass, guitars, and a heavy beat, and are often in minor key tones. Also, please leave suggestions of bands/singers in this style, it would be much appreciated! Examples:

The thing you said about South America is really true. In Brazil, we have a lot of local content, but when it comes to dramas and film, except the soap operas, 90% of our movies and TV shows are imported from the US and dubbed. The voices even achieve certain popularity, especially among the nerd and otaku community [Saint Seiya and Dragon Ball started this phenomenon here]. There is even a certain understanding that the thing about Americans making remakes of foreign movies and TV shows [Like Oldboy, Les Revenants, this type of remake] is due to their rejection of watching content in a different culture and language.

I believe since it is a show with references to religion, mysticism and scatology, the 33 is related to numerology as well [1986 and 1953 and all the 3 multipliers]. And since 33 is the age that Jesus died, I think they wanted to incorporate the mystic of the Trinity into the show, with the triquetra and everything. Also, I believe that things set in the future keep their magic a little more. Like, it 'will' happen in 2 years.

He didn't appear much in the show [except as an adult, and even so, very little] then he appears in the woods shot and with those passports [when he helps Regina]. The impression I had is he came from the future [his clothes didn't seem very 80's] but he also isn't one of the teens of 2019's Winden nor has that post-apocalyptic 'look' that old Jonas, Claudia, and all people have. Thanks a lot for the info! I think the main problem people have with the Bioré is that it contains a lot of alcohol. I'm currently finishing 2 bottles of Bioré sunscreen, one of the Aqua Rich and one of the Perfect Milk. I usually use the second the days my skin is kinda upset and I don't want to layer a primer underneath my makeup, but the skin must be moisturized otherwise it will make it feel horribly tight and also leave a white cast. When my skin is more resistant I use the Aqua Rich since it's more hydrating, but it requires a primer. Both never gave me any problems (except a little oiliness from the Aqua Rich), but my skin is very resistant to alcohol.

I do! Can't leave the house without applying it. I use two Bioré sunscreens: Aqua Rich and Perfect Milk, both SPF 50+. I also use a Missha cushion bb cream with SPF 50 on top of that, and my setting powder has an SPF 30. Another question: I have a hard time applying some products, especially in the evening routine. I'm reducing the amount of each product I use, but in the most skincare routine videos I watch, people put the tiniest drop on their hands and press it on the face, and this doesn't make sense to me. I can't feel the product is properly working unless I spread it evenly all over my face (even if it is a thin layer), and then pat it gently until it's dry, but I'm afraid I might be ruining the layering process doing that, dragging away the previous product I applied.

Thread: Let's Talk About Skin Care
It depends on the concentration of the exfoliant active ingredient. If you have an exfoliant with a higher percentage (and they are usually masks, like The Ordinary's AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution), it should be used 1-2 times a week. But if you have an exfoliant toner, with a lower concentration (and I think this is the Paula's Choice Exfoliating Solution case), it is mild enough to be used daily or on alternate days, depending on the resistance of your skin. If you use it daily and feel the skin too tingly or burning, you should use it on alternate days. Scrubs must be used only 1-2 times a week without exception. They are not the same thing. The cleanser is meant to clean your skin and remove the superficial impurities on it, sebum, dirt, makeup, etc. It's a basic skincare step. The exfoliant is more of a treating step (even though it can prevent a lot of things, like acne and blackheads). It's meant to renew your skin at a deeper level, removing dead skin cells, cleaning inside the pores and making the skin absorb the next treatments you put on it. I agree with most posters on this thread that chemical exfoliation is way better than physical exfoliation (our well-known scrubs with sugar, plastic, etc). As I said above, you can either opt for a daily or a weekly exfoliant and both are good to go. Now, if you don't do anything for your skin, starting with cleansing and moisturizer is already way better than nothing, even though I would suggest you include a chemical exfoliant, even if it's a weekly one.

Found the CeraVe Facial Lotion PM today at the drugstore. I didn't know the brand was already available here, but I'm glad it is! Especially because it contains Niacinamide and it was out of stock when I made my order at The Ordinary. Currently, I follow a [simplified] Korean PM routine: Double cleansing (Bioré Cleansing Oil + Bioderma Sebium Purifying Foaming Gel), then a light watery toner (now I'm using Sulwhasoo First Care Toner), my current essence (The Face Shop Snail+EGF Repairing Essence) and here as my emulsion, I plan to insert the CeraVe Lotion, since it is very lightweight and contains the Niacinamide I was looking for. But I have a texture problem here because I love my rosehip/sunflower/tea tree oil mix, it really made wonders for my skin, but when I apply over the snail essence it starts peeling off. As a moisturizer, I'm using the Clean&Clear Moisturizer since it contains salicylic acid and it really works to stop/prevent some little breakouts I can have sometimes. If I mix a few drops of my face oil into my this moisturizer it will prevent the salicylic acid to penetrate my skin? Or it's okay to mix them as a last, hydration-locking step?

The different recommendations actually make a lot of sense for both our countries [btw, I live in Brazil], but it is really interesting to notice this kind of thing. I suppose since you don't get as much sun in Germany as you have here [in my state, the sun sometimes is so strong that you tan/burn even using a parasol] the sunscreen isn't THAT necessary. This is actually very curious since yesterday I was watching that Dark series and for a moment I didn't understand why all services were working in the 'middle of the night' - until I realized the twilight was a lot early in the day in some months [here it never changes, you have sun from 6:00am to 6:00pm the whole year].

I think you should use your cream nightly, because dry skin can produce sebum to compensate the need of moisture/hydration and cause more acne/breakouts. But be sure it suits your skin well, if you don't like it, I suggest the Clean Clear moisturizer with salycilic acid - it is light and meant to help with this issues. Be careful about the scrub, because they are supposed to remove the dead skin and prevent your pores from being clogged, but they can hurt even more if your skin is already irritated - I personally would recommend a chemical exfoliant instead. Check the early pages in the thread, the OP explains in detail the disadvantages of scrubs.

2% is a nice amount for starters, and salicylic acid is awesome - the problem is the damage that the micro-beads can cause to already irritated skin. However, if it is not a harsh one, you can use it without bigger problems. I still use mine twice a month [it's sand-like, almost] but the thing about the chemical ones is that they are more effective cleaning inside the pores and you can use it more times a week.

More a fun fact than anything [since you are more into Korean products], but did you checked out the new Fenty foundations? They have a shade that is almost geisha-ish, so pale. I absolutely love the pale skin look [on other people, since I am a light olive skin]. Also looking for these Innisfree No Sebum products that you recommended to me. It seems just like what I need to solve my problem with oiliness.

I understand! I saw so much hype around it that I got a little curious, but since I am not a fan of foundation and concealer as in the American kardashianesque trend, I didn't bother to go after it. And, aww, pale skin is so beautiful! That shade you said it was yours is just gorgeous [mine is the 180 shade - tried 2 Korean bb creams in the shade '21' and they fitted ok]. I was watching The Crown this weekend and was mesmerized about how Claire Foy's skin is beautiful: Translucent, glowy and so fair. About Korean bb creams, I recently tried Missha's MISA Cho Bo Yang BB Cream and was very excited about it - I am not the biggest fan of natural treatments except if it is an pure oil, but I confess I have a weak spot for Hangbang beauty - but the experience was terrifying. I had a sample, in the shade #23 and it let me extremely fantasmagoric and grey. It also has a high coverage, which I didn't expect to find in a bb cream - the texture, by the way, is extremely creamy and pleasant, and it doesn't peel off even if you rub pretty hard and use a beauty blender to apply it. It leaves a satin look, and evens out the skin tone nicely without looking too artificial - so I believe if I tried my right shade it would be a great option for special occasions [the coverage is a little too much for my daily makeup].

Could you explain the difference of a sleeping pack and a regular moisturizer and a night cream? I read a lot about it, but I am not sure if one replaces the other. And also, when you wear a facial oil? Always? I can recommend you Sulwhasoo, it is working well for me. I am using their Essential Firming Cream as an eye cream and it brightened my eye area quite a lot, made my little lines softer and reduced the puffiness around the eyes [but it also have a herby smell, in case you don't like it].

I have the Perfect Face Milk too, very excited to try it! I liked the softness that the Aqua Rich gave me, but the weird oiliness made it not good to wear with makeup [for work], but I surely will use it chilling in my vacations. I also have a recommendation: This Bioré moisturizer (it is called Bioré Uruoi Jelly Moist) that I got with my cleanser. It makes the skin very very silky, and doesn't have any scent or color.

And also these Tawianese women used so many filters they look more like 3d anime than photographs. I love skincare [as a bit of pampering specially] but I don't have greeeaaat expectations - for deep wrinkles, facial contour, etc you must have some work done. A good skincare will make the signs a lot less prominent, though, and also will leave you without dark spots, acne, dryness etc.

My routine is pretty much like yours, too. Except for the sheet masks [I love them but they are way too expensive in Brazil, like 7 dollars each]. I focus more in the night routine, with oil cleanser, foam/gel cleanser, a serum, a moisturizer, an oil and a eye cream [at the moment I am using richer face creams onto my eyes and sometimes rosehip oil too] A few times a week I use a scrub or a chemical exfoliant. In the morning I usually wash with only water [the foam cleanser usually dries out my skin too much in the morning] and use a zinc based toner in a cotton pad to remove any night product traces, and still figuring out the best combination of moisturizer + sunscreen that won't leave me oily and will set ok when I use makeup. The days when I don't use makeup I usually use only my silicone based sunscreen that is very hydrating.

Did you notice any improvement on your skin since you stopped wearing 'face' makeup products? I am kinda in a transition. I wore foundation and full makeup looks everyday some time ago, but since I started to work in the morning shift I don't really have the will to do it. I like makeup quite a lot, but more in the 'creative' side [with colorful lipstick, eye shadows] than the 'corrective' side, so now I kinda wear lipstick, eyebrow pencil, single eye shadow, blush, a creamy light foundation as 'concealer' and sometimes mascara, but I still depend on face powder [compact] to control my oiliness during the day - and I think it is responsible for many of my problems, but I don't really know what to do yet. I feel like if I don't wear it I get shiny as a plastic doll and when I wear it my cheeks dry out and the skin gets flaky - it is really a bummer.

Thanks for the answer, catberry! In fact this week I bought a FPS30 serum sunscreen (to save a bit of my Bioré sunscreen in cloudy days when I don't need a FPS50+++ protection) and it is mainly composed by silicone, and made wonders to control my oiliness - the first product to do that. It can transfer if you rub your face and isn't waterproof, but it has hyaluronic acid on it, and I am liking it by far - and it didn't give me any breakouts. I also finally received my Moistfull Collagen emulsion and toner, and I think it is kinda sticky and it didn't made my face plump and hydrated as I thought it would... I have to water it down with thermal water or my usual watery toner to be able to apply it and make it be absorbed. Maybe I am just not really used to the texture of Korean products yet. The smell is wonderful, though - like the Sulwhasoo products I got, loved the herby smell! But since I started research about skincare I got a lot more skeptic about 'natural' actives, I am more drawn to the more traditional dermatology with acids and etc. I watched Wishtrend a few times recently and I felt like it was... An ad. I didn't think that many of their products (like Vitamin C) are that different from the Western version. Is a great place to understand Korean brands better, though. I am almost a hater of Lush - it is so overrated. And expensive. And also, its hype is Buzzfeed's fault!

I didn't know that oils had UV protection, very interesting! I love oils, but I think here is too hot to use them during the day [Brazil, what to expect lol] - at night they made wonders for my skin. I really love rosehip oil, it is helping a lot with my eyes, until I find my perfect eye cream [still on the quest!]. Of course! It's called Ensolei Profuse AOX FPS 30 Serum. It also came with a free bottle of thermal water, so it was really worth it. Definitely. I am so tired of seeing western brands and bloggers lying about a product which the active ingredient is in the bottom of the list of components [like that Vichy Idealia eye cream, and the Serozinc from La Roche-Posay bullshit]. Even famous french oils like the Nuxe one are a little bit too hyped [but Claudalie deserves it tho]. I will look for the CeraVe creams! Thank you very much!

Thank you so much for the recommendations! I heard that SK-II wasn't that anti aging panacea that so many skin care gurus swear by. I confess that after having an habit of reading the ingredients list I got so much more skeptical about most products. But still vulnerable to some advertising! Those gorgeous pictures of Joseon ladies in the cream ads made my eyes shine! It seems so good. It is already on my wishlist. About silicones, I am curious - don't you think they are hiding the real deal? I always thought they worked as some sort of camouflage with little real effect. To be honest I don't mind them very much - unlike the mineral oil which I really avoid.

Went to the derm yesterday and she was just horrified when I told her how many products my routine had (an average 10 step half korean routine). She almost got mad at me - and I don't even have products with powerful actives. She wanted to give me isotretinoin but I wasn't into it, so she gave me a milder antibiotic (tetracycline). I don't really think I have acne so bad that needs those kind of treatments, but took the second anyway, since she said it would help with my blackheads. Asked for some advice for fine lines and she suggested me some bullshit Vichy eye cream -_- I am heartbroken. Eye creams for fine lines seem to be the graal of cosmetics. She also was VERY skeptic about AHA and BHA. Thinking in continue the oral treatment if it works, but about creams and skin care I will continue to do based on my own research.

Someone knows if using various moisturizers in different days of the week is something bad for your skin? I don't mean something like the Korean skin care routine, when you use many products but with different formulations (serums, toners, eye creams, moisturizers, oils), but I am talking about using different in each day of the week. I ask because some days I have a really dry, flaky skin in certain areas, but tomorrow I might have breakouts and I also want to take care of wrinkles, puffiness around the eyes, and all. I currently use 4 moisturizers: One very rich almost oily, a anti acne by Clear Clean, a average collagen moisturizer, and a anti aging, so I use one and other depending of my need, but I am afraid this might make the products like the anti aging not work, or give some kind of bad shock to the skin.

I am always afraid because it is so hard to find their ingredients online. I bought a Bioré cleanser and it has mineral oil on it. It is VERY hard not buying cosmetics that has mineral oil or petroleum derivatives in the composition. It's in everything. Question here! What you people think about the Avon's Anew line? In my country it is seem as one of the best ''commercial'' lines in anti aging cosmetic treatments. The thing is: I am 22 years old and after a few years of reckless lack of care I recently started a Korean 10 steps skincare routine, but by now I am finishing several products (from several brands) I previoulsy bought, and intend to replace them with Korean/Japanese products in the future. It is worth it? Their technology is that far ahead? Currently I have all type of products, from drugstore/Avon to french brands like Nuxe/Claudalie and some natural vegetal oils too. I also have a custom pharmacy made cream/serum with that formula from the C E Ferulic serum from Skinceuticals (still a little afraid from this last one to be honest). But my main concern is that for the first time I am having dark circles and fine lines in my forehead, so I wanted to try the Anew eye creams, since they are affordable and my skin isn't that mature yet. Any thoughts?

I am using the double cleanse method for some time now, and I think it is the best I found until now. But I didn't try the oil cleanser yet - I use vegetal oils (mainly coconut, almond and grape seed oil) to massage the face and clean before I use the water-based cleanser (that removes the oil completely). It is great for removing even the hardest waterproof make up, and avoid a lot of skin trauma I had before while trying to take it off.

There are several scenes in Netflix's The Outsider that are literally what you described here. Of course, the Yakuza runs strip clubs and brothels and all sort of things, but I think we have these faceless strippers dancing in the background for about 30 minutes in total. Every scene in the bar (which belonged to the Shiromatsu clan, so a lot of the scenes happened there) had to feature them, and none of these scenes have nothing to do with them. I don't mind seeing beautiful people naked at all, but it seemed weirdly cold and it started bothering me. I suppose at least I should be grateful the strippers wore regular clothing and not some fake geisha fetishized outfits.

The Handmaiden is one of my favorite movies ever. It is BEAUTIFUL and I love how the women have a lot of agency even in the worst situation they could be. I love the soundtrack too. Don't believe the trailers though. The main one sold it like it is a movie about fetishes and it's not about this at all. It even has a lot of very good comedic moments and plenty of cute ones.

I think you should tell her, so she is at least informed about this stuff her father is doing. Even if you eventually let her go, imagine he keeps doing this every job she gets. Her reputation could be permanently damaged in the industry, because of him. I wouldn't tell her to but only to make sure she will be aware of it, so she can be prepared. Poor girl.

This is actually a great idea that never crossed my mind. Even though there still would be people who are shameless and won't mind being caught it would stop the casual stalkers or people doing illegal stuff, like that problem of creeps taking photos under women's skirts on the train/bus. I'm actually surprised that the majority here thinks this is a creepy privacy invasion (and I agree), even if the story itself is kinda cute. Most people I know on the internet (millennials and teens) think going viral like this is a blessing.

That's what I thought too. He was exactly like this with Prax and I don't think he was attracted to him, its more like he feels he must protect this kind of people (it's not very different from his relationship with Naomi too, but that was left ambiguous for a while on purpose). but by his behavior on the show, he could even be asexual. Does he even go to a brothel or something? I remember there were some scenes in Ceres in S1, but I don't remember if it was him. I have the impression that unlike other shows (even BSG and I didn't watch the entire 1st season) The Expanse doesn't and won't focus a lot on romance, unlike it explores friendship a lot. Holden obviously has a romantic interesting since he is The Protagonist (and even if I like Naomi, this romance is really bland and pointless to me, but I see why it exists). I personally didn't like the Miller/Julie Mao story too, but I suppose it's better explained in the books (and I want to read them).I felt a little of a tension in some scenes with Alex and Gunny. And he is officially divorced now. It may be only Martian/military camaraderie, but idk...

I loved how the proto-Miller 2.0 snubbed Holden when he complained about the crime scene allegories LOL Alex is so funny, love him. Amos too - ''I was being gentle!'', and he was INDEED. I don't like Anna very much, but I agree it is nice she brings a different perspective to the story. It's funny how harsh she is on Martin when it comes to selfishness and legacy but she isn't that different. Naomi too, I don't like her particularly, but, without her the Roci isn't the same at all. Drummer is one of my favorite characters, Cara Gee is so good. I was a little disappointed on Melba's plot though, I was expecting she was a protomolecule sleeping agent or something like this, especially after the brutal and inhuman way she killed Ren. I liked how they worked the consequences of his murder on her psyche though, it was complex, compared to most situations in which killing people doesn't seem to have an impact at all on the characters. Seeing Drummer transforming Manéo into a martyr was bizarre but so realistic. I guess Ashford got what he wanted breaking the two women apart.

I felt she wanted to prove a point to Naomi, and this made her put their relationship above the needs of the Behemoth, even knowing the price. And maybe it was better to let her go than having another situation like they had with the Roci, could lead to Drummer losing her morale as Captain etc. I think it was also a way to show that the Belters are trying to prove they are civilized too and even a resistant person like Drummer bought into this narrative. The balance among the Belters was always fragile, and at this point, Naomi's loyalty really belongs to the Roci above everything else.

Here people usually say the person who takes the last piece is starving or just a glutton. It's seen as horribly rude. There is a saying even about this ''taking your belly out of misery''. I used to have a lot of awkward moments when people would give me the preference to the door and I would be like ''no after you'' and the person ''no after you'' and then I would be ''no after you'', usually with men. I don't mind at all if a man goes before me, but since it seemed to always end up in this horrible awkward situation now I often will accept it. I also heard nowadays you are not supposed to give the preference to women but to your senior, especially at work. But if a senior (man or woman) gives me the preference I rather take it than end up in this silly courtesy duel.

I understand what you mean, but it kinda makes sense to me. Many of these extremist conservative movements have a huge emphasis in erasing modernity to appeal to ''good old values'' and also associate progress to being liberal. They kinda have a point since even architecture is influenced by politics and culture (Art Déco, Modernism, all were controversial movements in their time), exactly like fashion and they would use it to make a point like they do with the clothing, especially the women's, but if you pay attention, the men's too. If you look up what happened in the Islamic Revolution on Iran, it's not an uncommon move once they take over. I think that by Gilead's mentality having something like a fully functional mall would be a constant reminder of how things were better before and they don't want that. The costume designer of the series said she didn't want to look like it was some period drama or something, so she tried to create clothing that reminded that we are indeed in the 21st century. To me, this is clear when I see Serena walking in her heels at the same time she wears those capes. I suppose the whole series has the same idea and try to always remember this could be tomorrow, especially showing the new horrible uses for old locations, like gallows at the stadium, the professor hanged in the university, the subway working, the Olympic pool used to drown people, basketball courts used for forced marriages and so on.

There are a lot of documentaries that prove these type of creams contain incredibly harmful ingredients that may cause irreversible damage. Don't let them risk their health with this stuff. These are different from traditional whitening creams that are meant to help with sun spots and hyperpigmentation and are meant to change the skin tone of the user (huge markets on Africa, India, and Southeast Asia, btw). I really liked this last episode, was a good balance between plot and emotion, unlike the childbirth one where it was meant to be contemplative and sadly beautiful but it didn't have much of an effect on me. I think I enter a numb mode when I start watching THT, otherwise, this series would be unbearable. I was surprised at Eden's plot. I thought she was only using Isaac to try to make Nick care at least a bit, but she obviously loved him. I was surprised they chose to make her a rebel in the end, and not follow a line closer to Serena's - suffering from the consequences of their power structures but still fighting for it. I really liked the scene where Nick tried to dissuade her, really touching. Their execution was heartbreaking even though they weren't that likable. This episode had some great acting btw. That scene of Offred and Fred talking in the kitchen, you could feel her hatred moving almost unnoticeably in her facial muscles. That scene of Serena trying to breastfeed was just disturbing, But that pervy expression in Fred's face when June's milk wets her dress was one of the most haunting things I have ever seen in TV. It was quick, it didn't have any clues, but that face is so scary and disgusting at the same time. Great acting by Fiennes there. Talking of scary and disgusting, wtf is Commander's Lawrence household? What are those people up to? They left kinda ambiguous if they are somewhat rebellious (even he being the Colonies mastermind) or if they are just too insane to even to obey Gilead's laws. The house is the complete opposite of the Waterford's house. What I liked the most was how we step into Emily's shoes and can't know anything more than what she does. That weird shift during the drinks was very disturbing too. Excited to see in how they will finish the season since it looks a lot to wrap up. The next episode is the last one, right?

Maybe its mystery is what is bewitching about it, but this is just too awesome: by Agnolo Bronzino. PS: When it comes to art historians, Wendy Beckett is the GOAT.

I really like giving this type of simple advice to my male friends too. I already helped some people and they started following it for real and thanking the tips afterward. I rather helping them to get in touch with this often repressed side than bothering my female friends who already receive this kind of pressure in the media every day. I like makeover shows too, my favorite being the new Queer Eye. I used to be way more into fashion but now due to lifestyle changes I'm pretty much into a very simple and casual style, lots of jeans and solid colors (specially black). One funny thing is that I used to wear a lot of very romantic and frilly stuff and now I switched to t-shirts and button-ups I feel way it highlights my femininity way more. In general, I'm very interested in the fashion concepts more than applying into my life, and I'm not too crazy about trends or brands. Often ''looking good'' also requires an erasing of personality I don't agree with (like when they make every guy use a ''Hitler Youth'' haircut or every woman should wear highlights). I like to see Harajuku street fashion and also historic fashion. Sometimes I find something I apply into my own life though, like David Kibbe's 13 Body Types theory and best color palettes to different skin tones and undertones.

Thread: Wild Wild Country - The most insane documentary I've ever seen
I laughed at this, but this shows how indeed the cult was designed to attract young, educated (and preferentially rich) people. The liberal dogmas are very seducing, especially considering the academic and cultural climate at the time. The way that documentary shows the cult doesn't help either - it has clearly a positive light except in the most obvious moments (like the poisoning and the planning of the murders). You can even see it in the soundtrack - the ominous, country tunes when talking with the Antelope people and the luminous guitar tunes when showing the Rajneeshees. It also paints Sheela as a crazy psychopath but with tons of charm and appeal, but also dismisses the particularities of what was really the daily life at the ranch, and at the end is clear that the doc blames Bagwan's downfall on the ''Hollywood Crowd'' (which I believe was guilty - because of them with their Inner Circle that the cult managed to survive as a business as it is today). The nomenclatures are one of the key points that show how it was really a cult - calling himself ''The Bagwan'' already is a red flag. And the twist on the sannyasin concept too. The footage of him being followed and surrounded by young women creeped me out at the very beginning. When it comes to The New Republic's article I have my doubts (especially since he says he is basing it on his own texts and can't provide all the necessary documentation) but a lot of what he says makes sense, especially the way that sex was used and about the cash flow. I wondered how they could sustain all those people, plus the structures, plus the luxuries that Bhagwan was such fan. It didn't seem like the community was auto sustainable, even in Oregon. People stopped working to be on the ashram/ranch. Also, it isn't surprising the abuse of minors - it as a common variable in any cult, including the ones who repress sex. And unfortunately, we are talking about a decade when it was ok for a film like ''Pretty Baby'' to be released. About the Antelope citizens, it is clear how ignorant they are - even when their fear was justified. It was primarily a fear of the different, and they were pretty hostile even before knowing what was going on at the cult. It is funny how things like the red clothes and the Rolls Royces became obsessive points for all of those who were against the Rajneeshees. I felt like most of the townspeople were even excited about having a strange situation in their lives (especially Silvertooth and Bowerman). I also doubt that things would move so quickly if the Bowermans weren't so influent (even he recognizes that the investigation started as a favor). One thing though that the doc shows and people ignored when saying who was guilty of starting the hostilities is that the townspeople who started the gun stuff threatening people with shotguns. And the Rajneeshees weren't any better afterward.

This! The cool version, perfectly designed for the foreign taste. It is curious that I didn't see anyone who was Indian except Rajneesh and Sheela (and Laxmi, but they never touch her name or whereabouts again). Everyone else was white, rich, Westerners. They show a few Japanese sannyasins once. And you only see Black people when the homeless people were brought in. I liked the lawyer, Niren, a lot - he seemed so sincere, the only one among all the Rajneesh interviewees and other figures like KD, the doctor, and Hasya. But I wonder if he was aware of these atrocities that supposedly happened inside the ranch and this would make him a complete piece of shit (or someone extremely brainwashed). Another thing I found odd is how Sheela never mention any of the other key figures, specially Niren, while they mention her all the time. If I am right she only mentions KD and that's all.

And she was in for the power, that's why they worked so well together and reached this fantastic wealth and power as a community. Unlike Lakshimi she was bold and loved to command and finally he could enjoy the pleasures and riches of his position without getting his hands dirty anymore. But then the Hollywood Crowd appeared, Sheela wanted even more power [the accusations that she aspired to be a high priestess make a lot of sense] and other people were interested in it too, so things started to derail.

But something bugged me: Why are they so didactic about the plots? The first one (Real Life) have some minutes of 'explanation' in the end, but the 6th (Safe and Sound) have a silly 'making of' explaining how the everything happened in the background in a very weird way. I watched it last week, the theater was 80% empty. Never saw a blockbuster in a room so empty like that, not even weird artsy stuff like Mother. I was resistant [against my will] in seeing anybody other than Ford as Han Solo, but... I liked him! I couldn't unsee Ford, but with a little of faith, I was convinced he was a good young Han. I really liked the humor in many scenes, and really liked the whole Qi'ra and Crimson Dawn plot. Liked Bettany a lot too, and also Beckett. And Glover was a perfect cast for Lando. On the other hand, Thandie was completely wasted and I didn't like it. However, for the first time in my life, I slept at a theater, during the sequence where Han pilots through the storms. Not out of hate or anything, I think my brain just didn't feel like it than a quick nap While in Rogue One (my favorite ever) I was worried and feeling the pain of the characters at every second, here I couldn't feel it no matter how bad I tried. It felt like I always knew that nothing was at risk (obviously it has to do with knowing beforehand that Han doesn't die OF COURSE, but not only that). Enfys Nest felt like out of a not so good YA movie (she was inspired in Arya apparently, so that explains a bit). I ended the film wishing we could see more of Qi'ra, and overall not so disappointed. Just felt a little forgettable and rushed. I wish that being about who it is, this movie was made more harmoniously, maybe it could be even more fun, but it was an ok, fun, popcorn type of movie.

I liked and respected the 1st season A LOT since the book was something really special to me in my teenage years. The second season ruined it at a point it almost tainted the first one for me. Felt really cheap and a cash grab. Polaroids? Really? ''Hannah wasn't an angel?'' GHOST HANNAH? Couldn't pass that. I burst into laughter when she first appeared and couldn't go through after that scene where she replaces Skye when Clay is trying to have sex with her. What was that talk about self-harm? It just felt so disrespectful. Many people judged the book's author because he is a guy and all, but he understood those issues much better than the show apparently. Then I read about the broomstick scene that happens later in the season and I dropped it for good. That second season shouldn't exist like it did. It would be better if they made it an anthology.

I think White Christmas will always be the best Black Mirror episode to me. It is undoubtedly the first one that comes to my mind, even being from the 1st season. And one of the best I ever watched in general. But here are a lot of other great episodes in Black Mirror too. I would say my top 5 is: 1. White Christmas - First time the cookie theme is explored. It takes the virtual psychological torture discussion to a whole new level too. 2. Nosedive - Bryce Dallas Howard is absolutely amazing on this one. Its great color palette plays a big part in the story impact too. I like it especially because of the self-perception and online persona. 3. Hated in the Nation - I like how the plot shows how the snowball effect is quick when it comes to online harassment. Even the antagonist has a backstory that ''explains'' that the main problem is the public online court. 4. Shut Up and Dance/ National Anthem - Their strength is the shocking revelations, but its that kind of thing that keeps you thinking for days. 5. USS Callister/ Men Against Fire - These don't really bring any technologic breakthrough like many of the others, but I really like the social commentary they make on hard topics like toxic masculinity and dehumanization of ''the other''.

San Junipero is one of the episodes with a different tone of the rest of the series. It is also considered by many the only happy episode in all 4 seasons. Most Black Mirror episodes are very bleak and some have a bit of fridge horror as well. I really like San Junipero, but it is almost too non-Black Mirror tbh. You should give it a try again, maybe starting with White Christmas, National Anthem or The Entire Story of You. These are more aligned with the series tone and theme.

This would be awesome. I think it was an ok movie that due to the 14-year-old wait feels like it is really bad. The plot was REALLY predictable, the scenes felt kinda uncanny sometimes, they didn't explain much about their world. Some of the dialogues between Elastigirl and Evelyn Deavor felt like they were written by an AI trying to emulate how 'empowered women' would talk. It felt like a sequel that should have been made 2 years after the first one. On the other hand, the visual is absolutely STUNNING. Beautiful animation, I was astonished by it the whole movie. It's even better than the top tier Zootopia. They also really managed to create a noir atmosphere in the Screenslaver scenes, they felt really creepy. I didn't notice how much the aesthetic of this movie is based on the 60's when I watched the first one, and in this one, they exceed in it - it's just so beautiful. The Jack-Jack scenes were adorable and so funny. He is the best.

On the other hand quite a few people really like it. I think you should be fully informed of the good and bad experiences, because I noticed that this surgery has a really strong marketing around it. I think this is definitely possible. I know other people that just started to need glasses and jumped straight into doing the surgery, I don't doubt it might be her case. I wouldn't blame her, though. When my doctor (good reputation and all) examined me he said I shouldn't worry because I was already stable. I only have 2 degrees and I'm still pretty young. I didn't do it and now, only 6 months later, I'm feeling my vision is getting slightly worse. I think if I had done it back then I would be regressing by now. So maybe the op should just make sure his degree is undoubtedly stable before proceeding with the surgery, and avoid doctors that only work doing it.

Thread: The Handmaid's Tale S2 |OT| Gilead is within you.
It was the first time Offred indicates she isn't narrating the present in her thoughts, but maybe narrating the past in a written memoir (I didn't read the book, so I dunno if this was the case there). I thought it could be directed to other handmaids but it makes a lot of sense she is narrating that to Holly. One thing is sure: At the moment she is narrating that, Gilead didn't fell yet - or we are dealing with a horrible war aftermath where is still impossible to track your lost beloved ones. I was surprised Serena referred to it as rape. It's not uncommon to this kind of fundamentalists to dismiss this kind of thing as ''sex'' and usually the woman's fault, a complete denial of the violence. Another thing I wasn't completely sure was if Fred was really fooled by June's survival flirting, but he completely was! Not that is a surprise for the kind of predator he is. I'm surprised he didn't retaliate against Nick yet, but I suppose he has no idea they have a relationship. I didn't really like the episode, but not because of the pain and suffering. I still disagree it should be lighter or she should have escaped yet. The torture is necessary to show how inexorable and unescapable Gilead is. Things don't get better when you live in this kind of regime. There is no agency for the individual, so it is almost impossible that one person's actions are enough even to just escape. Moira was just unbelievably lucky. And on a side note, she didn't have a pair of crazy dogs chasing her so actively like Offred has - she was one more girl at the Jezebel's. About the promo, I didn't understand what's going on with Emily. Is her new commander a Gilead traitor or a psychopath? The wife seemed emotionally broken. And what's Eden up to? Where could she possibly go? If she went to Isaac she is just stupid, but I don't think she went back to her mother.

Watched the S2E09 and then S2E10 one after the other, and it was a powerful and draining experience. First Serena being beaten previously, then humiliated in many little ways in Canada... After the 'Women's Work' episode, and the ones that followed, I almost extended my sorority to her but then... Serena deserves to pay for everything she did in the worst way possible. All the things she suffered weren't but a slap on the wrist compared to the monstrosities she enables since the beginning. She turned away the chance to run away to Hawaii, and this showed she isn'ta victim, she IS a victim, but of something she created almost by herself. Gilead probably isn't the world she dreamed of, but it's the world she helped to build and she isn't willing to leave. Serena to me is a portrayal of the trap women who defend oppressive agendas put themselves in - they have deep mental scars, but as the complete human beings they are - even when they give this up to please their male pairs like she did - they are accountable for this and for their actions too. I admire Margaret Atwood as a feminist author because she can build her female characters like this, complete human beings, at the same time she shows clearly they are deeply scarred by the oppressive world they live in. Both Alias Grace and THT shows captured this nuance beautifully. Btw, I personally think THT is the best thing we have in television right now. About the torture porn, I felt my stomach turn on the rape scene. For a moment I considered stopping to watch the series altogether, but then I realized something: THIS is what WILL happen if we give up our freedom. It's important for us to see it - as it is important to see what the Holocaust was, for example - as a reminder. Later I saw the executive producer saying this same thing and I think this is what makes this show more than simple entertainment, and elevates it to art and a political manifesto. If something like Gilead arises, it WON'T STOP. People will be tortured and killed on a daily basis, women will be raped like June, Emily, Janine and Moira, children will be taken away like Hannah. The resistance will end on the wall like Omar. I think the most brilliant part of this show is giving these people faces and showing us their pain in close up, so we never forget we CAN'T let this happen.

Watched the first 2 episodes, didn't like the first one, loved the second one. I would love if this season started following different characters (kinda like Orange is the New Black did) while still keeping an eye on June's plot. June's story interests me, but I don't like her either - and I think this is great. Atwood is really good at making great female characters who aren't likable women. Serena Joy also interests me - she is so dangerous and ominous that she gave me chills in the hospital scene. Such a fragile and smart woman with almost absolute power in her hands makes her a real danger, I fear her more than Aunt Lydia. The second one is my favorite and also filled me with sadness and a sentiment of impotence towards the way things are now. I hated the characters submitting to abuse (June being questioned about her daughter, Emily humiliated by the officer, Emily's colleague) but exactly because we know that probably we would do the same - maybe we are already doing it. We also see what happens to people who resist in The Boston Globe arch. It also did a really good job showing that things are never too progressive that they can't turn to barbaric again. The Iran Revolution mentioned above was a really good comparison. The Red Sox game audio played at the credits (and the abandoned stadium scene in the first one) are perfect reminders to never take anything for granted. The fact that The Boston Globe is known for bringing scandals to light (see Spotlight) is an awesome association. These voices would be silenced for sure in such scenario.

June is far from perfect or even and this contributes to make her a great character but she can be annoyingly reckless to the point we get pissed at her. The window scene was REALLY frustrating to watch (I was paranoid even in the first and second episodes, her and Nick playing with that goddamn door - Jesus, there's an army after you fools!). I also would like to be relieved she left and the family was 'safe' again but I actually think they were caught. It's very unlikely it was just a coincidence when the Econopeople is watched by guards every 3 meters. That resistance chain crumbled since the safehouse was down - The daily life of the Econopeople reminded me a lot of both 1984 and Holocaust movies/books about the early days of the Warsaw ghetto. Just suffocating. Even though it is so saddening and terrible to watch they getting tortured, again and again, I think that there's no other way to go on, at least the scenes in Gilead. This is the very foundation of this society, pain, and death. Inexorable.

It's surprising how many people ignore this kind of prohibition. I've seen this kind of dumb disobedience involving dangerous large rivers, bridges, hydroelectric plant reservoirs, and a lagoon where a lot of people died thrown against the cliffs by the sea and people insist going there calling it ''natural pools''. If I see a sign indicating any kind of danger I will get the fuck out of there immediately. I hope they are found safe and sound :(

This makes a lot of sense. I watched a video about the creation of the hazard symbol and it was hard to create a warning sign that could be understood universally or at least ingrained in people's minds as a sign of danger regardless of culture. And these other signs probably suffer from this same problem, not to mention the language :(

There is this theory that the parks are actually located under the sea, so maybe using aerial weaponry (even drones) could interfere with a dome (if it is really true). I liked the episode even though I have some criticism about certain things. If Dolores is free, why would she bother so much (emotionally) about her 'fake' father? At first, I didn't think that was a problem since her sudden love for Teddy (after she gained free will) never felt real. I always thought she was playing with him just to keep him close. She could be struggling with her Dolores code, but in the same episode, we have the counterpoint that is the ''forbbiden'' love between Maeve and Hector, which is real even though some parts of it still contain code written by the company. This almost sounds like Maeve is the true 'Eve', even though Dolores/Wyatt keeps presenting herself as the guide of the 'chosen' hosts. Maeve is still going after her 'daughter', but she knows their bond it is something programmed and still is going for it. I didn't like the fights either, very badly made. And also the 2000's CG tiger. And I think people are missing a pivotal point about Raj World: You can't see the appeal with your own eyes, have to think how immensely rich, bored a-holes would enjoy being colonizers in an ''exotic location'', including all the servilism that comes with it, not to mention the hunting. Nowadays the 'discovery' genre (almost always involving a white man's story about Africa or India under British rule) is dead, but it was all the rage for nearly two centuries, with thousands of books, movies, series, heroes, and Indiana Jones (and the things inspired by it) is the adapted, more palatable link to this genre that we have in our current pop culture. I hope Grace has more prominence in the future, we almost never saw female guests in the park when it comes to the more violent narratives (the series kinda implied that the women would rather have 'lighter' adventures) and I'm glad she appeared.

I felt a little bored with the first episode but loved the second one. It was beautiful and I loved the flashbacks. My favorite scene is the private demonstration they do for Logan (by the way, when he talks to Dolores and he's drugging himself, he says things that made me think if he opposed to Westworld - or its hidden purpose and was pushed away from the company, with his father favoring William instead). Btw, the young William in the flashbacks felt a little fake, but maybe this was intentional (to show what he was trying to be). In the flashbacks, I felt really uncomfortable how Dolores looked so vulnerable (the dresses only accentuated it). But it was a great counterpoint to what she is becoming now. Loved her encounter with Maeve too (she is my favorite). I think the second episode got better about investing the audience emotionally in the characters, something that in my opinion this show is really bad at. I didn't care for anybody except Maeve the whole first season. And I think that especially for TV this is a crucial point to assure its survival. You don't even need to have likable characters, just must keep people interested in what's going to happen to them (look at the 1st season of True Detective, for example). Enjoying it so far. Looking forward to the next episode and to what that place is.

On the topic of harsh climates, does anyone knows if humidifiers are any good? This year we are experiencing very low humidity levels already (under 35%), and the dry season didn't even begin. I read some things it's great for the skin and for the respiratory tract, but I'm still wondering if its worth it.

I know this is an old as fuck post but I think I have some suggestions that can help you in case you still wondering about it. But first, you shouldn't stop wearing something you love because of silly labels! Sweet Honesty actually is part of a perfume trend that relied heavily on Chanel's vintage perfumes style (so, very chic and not childish at all). So just enjoy it! But just in case, here are some suggestions in line with it in case you want to try it: Blumarine - Blumarine II Chanel - Chanel N° 22 Ulric de Varens - Ciel Jennifer Lopez - Eau de Glow

Today I was reading about the effects of wearing/not wearing bras and there were many contradictions, specially about stop wearing them. One article said it would make the boobs saggy and the other said it would make them exercise more and even grow a little. As a victim of A-Cup Angst, would like to know if any of you girls had this experience and what expect.
