Thread: “Game Night” is an under appreciated comedy
I actually saw this yesterday, so good timing with the thread. The movie was alright - it had a pretty good script, and most of the actors were really good. Like others mentioned, Jesse Plemons stole the show in every scene he was in, fantastic. For some reason I didn't like Jason Bateman though, it's hard to pinpoint why... might be just my taste? The last... 10 minutes felt considerably weaker than the rest of the film too, but it wasn't enough to ruin it or anything.

I've always liked robot/mecha suit designs, and the color scheme fits it well. The mecha is maybe bit too detailed for a tiny avatar, though, 8/10.

I enjoyed the game overall. Connor was my favorite character, and Kara was pretty cool too. Didn't like Markus' plot much at all. Something about the way the game is basically "I want to tell a story about racism and queerphobia without actually talking about it, so I just replace those minorities with robots" rubbed me the wrong way, and it just culminated in Markus' plotline by having concentration camps pop up at the end. You really can't make a plotline about a minority rebelling against the majority, and then just making them robots. Not a fan of the story using "Magical Negro" as a character trope at least once either, felt incredibly bad writing especially in a game like this.

The movie was great, but I disliked the ending. I was hoping for the film to go the ambigious route - how much is supernatural, how much is it happening inside Annie's head (I pinpointed her unreliable narrator quickly, so I didn't take the seance scenes at face value. Most of the supernatural stuff happen from her POV until the final scenes). But no, the movie ended up going the easy route with Rosemary's Baby esque ending. Took out lot of the tension for me, when everything was flat out revealed. Still a great movie, but it could have been amazing. Charlie's death scene from start to Annie finding her was some real nightmare horror.

Considering the orchestra seemed to have footage or kairi and aqua sitting side by side, I doubt evil!aqua is permanent change. It might even be a bait and switch manipulation ploy that lasts lasts for only few minutes (= lazy trailer shock material). I hope she does stay evil. That would be actually interesting.

With 1, the platform does not excuse the game from having issues like that. With 2-4, yes other games had similar issues, but they were lot worse in 3D, especially game balance. Just because earlier games in the series had similar issues does not excuse 3D from them. A more recent game in the series is supposed to fix the problems the earlier games had, not make them worse.

I can list few more issues I had with 3D: 1. The framerate was pretty awful in lot of places, including lot of bosses. At least the HD version fixed that. 2. The game balance was badly broken. You don't create a game with command deck, when an early game command breaks the game immediately. 3. The game continues to have issue with bland, lifeless evironments. Even more so with the areas being lot bigger in this game compared to BBS. 4. The way the game more or less forces you to spam dream eater minigames just to obtain abilities and commands was pretty bad. I didn't even mind platforming being broken, flowmotion was pretty fun.
