Title: Is the Surface Go a game changer?

Microsoft just announced this: Base model 64GB SSD (can be higher) 4GB RAM (can be higher) including desktop apps. That means Steam, emulators, Java, Flash, the works 10" touch screen Integrated GPU Intel HD Graphics 615 Pentium 4415Y and compatible with any Bluetooth controller including PS4/Xbox, Switch Pro, 8bitdo, etc Compatible with existing USB/Bluetooth keyboards The $400 price point is about half of the typical Surface starting price. I don't think we have ever seen a full Windows tablet at this price have we? Since it will run Steam I would think most of the indie library will run on this, possibly some older core games too. The appeal of going in on this as your defacto indie machine is a few things: Steam library stays with you "permanently" regardless of hardware (as opposed to console makers). Indies most often release on PC first. For example, Minecraft, Stardew Valley, Hollow Knight, Axiom Verge, Hyperlight Drifter, and many more all release on PC first, or exclusively. Some like the recent Into the Breach (which is crazy good) also support touch screen. Indie games are often cheapest on Steam too. It can also double as a work/school computer if you only need basic apps. I think if you own a Switch but want a bigger screen, bigger library, greater controller compatibility, you might want to check it out. Granted you won't be playing the big Nintendo games on this, but you will be getting a much better indie library plus lots of PC games that Switch doesn't have. I could see a lot of Switch owners wanting to play Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana Remake, Civilization, Trails in the Sky games, and much more. Also the homebrew/emulation scene is always strongest on PC. Thoughts? What am I missing here?

Ask anyone who's played Mother 3 and you'll get a different description of its contents. A brazen critique of late capitalism in a surrealist shell. A super stylish homage to American pop culture. A heartfelt endorsement of community and nature against the rising wave of unfettered industrialization. Hilarious characters and a battle system that never gets old. The closest JRPGs ever got to Studio Ghibli. Instead of being one of these things, Mother 3 is all of them. No other RPG reaches these lofty heights. This is the closest JRPGs ever got to full scale opera, and I'm not just talking about that famous sequence. Final Fantasy has never shied away from drama, but no other game in the series tells a story using the entirety of its cast and world. Love, death, imperialism...... this game fears nothing. Repetitive areas, dull graphics, over the top voice acting, fuck off who cares. Give me all of that if it means I can have a game like this. This game ties together a meta-narrative about playing the game itself and the body dysmorphia of the actual characters. I mean, how can you not champion this as one of the most important RPGs ever released. how can you choose cold metal over the splendor of the flesh???????????????????????????? If "Song of Storms" was a video game. Lonely and strange, it transports you to a world that you can't ever leave. There are no mysteries left in video games, no stones left unturned, but this is the closest you'll get. Post-apocalyptic fiction is inherently about society. The society that leads to nuclear war, the society that is destroyed by fire and radiation, the society that claws its way out of the wasteland. This is the only series that really understood that what came after is better than what came before. As full of style as any of the other games in the SMT series, but a little bit weirder, a little bit darker...... an essential text for this specific generation of weird emo weebs. So many modern RPG creators talk about making a "sandbox" when the perfect realization of waking up in a strange new world already exists. Like the journeys you day dreamed about as a kid in a boring class. The reason so many people are very attached to this game is because it illuminates the same coming of age moral realization as every other seminal work of 2000s nostalgia. It's still good though. There really isn't a character as compelling as The Nameless One in video games. Planescape: Torment utilizes an A+ greenlight pitch, a fully formed world, and sharp writing............. and surprise, it's fucking great. Who needs enemies when you have friends Give me the wide eyed wonder of this installment over any other Mario RPG. Completely innocent and beautiful. Maybe the best sequel of all time? An incredible work of technical mastery before you even consider the story, characters, and world. This series was supposed to imperfect journeys through thoughtfully designed worlds. After the first installment, it shirked its own destiny, and the industry is worse off for it. Maybe a perfect game, eschewing grind and massive scope for tight pacing. Remember when this seemed futuristic? After Demon's Souls, From doubled down on some of the more crowd pleasing aspects of the franchise and lost a little of what made the first game so memorable. Luckily, through sheer force of will, they walked ass backward into another classic. A slow ramp up into the best second act in RPG history, expanding gameplay, story, and freedom to ridiculous degrees. My vanity entry, a game seemingly forgotten by anyone who wasn't around to play it at release. Once they changed the future, then he should've disappeared because they created a new timeline, and the frozen fitz died in the rubble in Chicago... I base all my time travel theories on Back to the Future... - Shield gets taken to the future by Enoch - Fitz is left behind - Fitz freezes himself with help from enoch and waits until 2090 to wake up to help team - Team makes it back to present day lighthouse (this should've been a paradox unless they come back after Fitz is already frozen) - Team successfully changes the future, which should mean that Fitz did not need to freeze himself with help from enoch, and therefore that timeline should erase itself and the Fitz that we see die is the one and only Fitz. That is the conclusion I came to and posted back there, but I was wrong. I have no excuse for the error, because these are some of the exact same screenshots I analyzed then. It appears I only counted a couple edges, likely because these shots were messy, imgur-compressed JPEGs, and this colored my analysis of cleaner PNG shots. , thank you very much for resurrecting the topic and (unwittingly) giving me a chance to reverse my mistake. Say we start with this shot: So, the area is an obvious candidate for counting: a long edge obviously intended to be straight, with high contrast. (The window divider to the right is even longer, but also surrounded by worse JPEG noise.) Looking at the edge (200% zoom), each step is exactly 2 pixels wide and ratio count thus gives a 2x upscale result. I must've ignored the horizontal lines since they aren't really countable, being completely flat with no steps at all. However, this made me miss a crucial observation. Look at the area , again zoomed 200%. It's instantly apparent that some horizontal lines are only one pixel tall. This is literally impossible in an upscaled 1080p image. So we then go to another image of the same environment, this time from an angled camera view. The near-vertical lines still count as 2x upscale, but the near-horizontal ones count as unscaled: one pixel for every step taken. (You can still see some "chalkmarks" from my counting, partially eliminated by a nearest-neighbor downscale.) Because of what pixel counting is actually measuring, near-vertical lines are a measure of resolution width, and near-horizontal lines a measure of resolution height. Why the strange number? There are a few possibilities. First, the game could be running an anamorphic dynamic resolution, where only the width changes. This isn't an uncommon approach ( is using it), but the facts seem against it here. In such games, an image less wide than tall is usually only seen at the very lowest drops, when the engine can barely keep up with the action. That definitely doesn't seem likely in these scenes, especially since they vary in content but all show evidence of this sizing. Second, the buffer might simply be static, and upscaled in only one direction. But while this is not unheard of, choosing to use full height when that will restrict you all the way to half width is unusual. Such a 1920x2160 buffer is more total pixels than full 1440p, and only a little bit less than full 1620p. Given the more balanced distribution of increased-res benefits, those other sizes would seem more logical choices if you're restricted to this level of throughput. Third, some temporal reconstruction methods (CBR, TAA, etc.) may use undersized buffers at some point in the process. These are definitely not supposed to end up being output to the screen, they're just the building blocks that the reconstruction operates on. However, we have precedent for something like this sneaking through. When it launched, also rendered taller than wide, to much confusion. A patch later eliminated this, and the final version doesn't seem to use reconstruction at all; but could this be an example of initially botched reconstruction that might guide us with ? Well, there may be artifacts present in another of the images (400% zoom). Notice the light/dark/light/dark bands near some edges. This could just be mosquito noise from JPEG compression. After all, the large block impressions here are certainly JPEG color channel chunking, and there's some less-structured noise elsewhere in the zoom. (Not to mention the blending from the anamorphic upscale.) But these are strong, exact alternations at pixel scale, so I suspect they may be part of the original image. There are also more--though even less certain--suggestions of temporal artifacting in other shots. And tellingly, the impressions from the GameFAQs thread say they're visible if you stand close to a 4K screen. Unfortunately, the only 4K PNGs I have were taken during little movement, so are inconclusive; there seem to maybe be artifacts, but it could just be specular aliasing, etc. Until I get better captures where stuff was in heavy motion, I can't conclude exactly what the reason behind the resolution is. Maybe there's no reconstruction at all. But at least I can now say that have Pro support, though it's not of an expected type. This might not be intentional (though the amount of bloom and DOF applied to this game might be evidence otherwise, of an effort to efface the worst artifacting of the chosen resolution). My apologies once more for the previous error, and any confusion it may have caused.

As a big fan of JRPGs a good battle theme is a must for most of those games, especially in many of the classics where it will be playing for the majority of the battles in the game. Having said that don't feel restricted to choosing battle themes which play more than once, go wild, choose the last boss theme or the song of some hidden optional boss if you must!

Title: Fantasy books

I'd recommend R. Scott Bakker's Second Apocalypse series of books. There's a lot that could be said, but I'd implore you to just go in fresh. Seven books are out now, and it's at a point where it could in many ways be considered finished. The author has signaled his intention to write additional books (which is also fine). Much like ASOIAF, there is a LOT of information buried in the text to discover, if you're into that. Stay off the internet though, you'll be immediately spoiled at this point. Even the names of the later books/series are mild spoilers. You'd want to start with The Darkness That Comes Before. The seven books are split into two series (with a third due... at some point, though the second has a conclusion that works perfectly well). I wouldn't look up anything past that. An additional parallel to ASOIAF is that the first series of books is heavily based on a real historical event (The Crusades).

I am making this thread, because I feel like this is not well known. This is my third switch case. I have been looking for the perfect switch case, and I did not find it until now. Day 1 I had one the BOTW link one. It had some space for games, and other items, but something I did not felt comfortable showing everyone lol. I then got the official Nintendo one. I can finally take it with me without feeling ashamed! xD That being said, I had no space for my charger, headphones, or even the joy cons strands. On top of that it only has space for 5 games, and I have over 10. I purchased a switch specific game case, that holds up to about 25 more due to this, but it did not even fit comfortably on the official one, so it was always separated. This one I found randomly, I was looking at their gaming grip, and came across their case. In short it does everything I needed * Space: up to 20 games (if more space is needed, my game case can fit here) * cool look and feel, modern, good protection * plenty of space for anything else, extra joycons, joy con strands, etc After using it a couple of days, I can confirm it is great, and I never heard about it from anyone, never saw it in videos of people recommending it. I stumbled on it randomly, and it is the best I have found. Thought I should share. Could not be happier. Might put my own pictures later

Title: Marvel Cinematic Universe | We robbed you. Do you remember? That's us

The Black Order is gonna be the best thing about Infinity War. That, and Thor meeting up with the Guardians. I just finished . And it continues to be a personal favorite of mine. I love the music that enhances the emotion of a few of these scenes with its piano. And I feel like it’s the movie that portrays Asgard best. It is a stunning place when they place us on the ground to take it all in. The vistas of the universe is mesmerizing, the golden architecture of their buildings. The clothing that truly express this is a fantasy film. It’s not one of the prettiest, but it still got its moments. I wish his mother was more of a warrior, and could have stood up for herself though, instead of mostly standing by as the support character that she is. The Warriors Three are fine, and I like how the dwarf tells his stories. Of course they could have done more with them, as I didn’t care much for them in Ragnarok. I didn’t mind the Earth segments. I actually think they were fine, and the relationship that grew between Thor and Jane felt real, mostly because of who Natalie sells her character. I like the Shield and larger MCU connection, but it did grow a little long in the tooth when they turned up again at the Destroyer fight. They could have maybe cut it down a bit, as we almost forgot about Asgard somewhere around the end of the second, and start of third act. I used to have a problem with the Destroyer, but how he was portrayed was fine too. It was just that the third act fight was not grand or a spectacle in any way. The action in general was pretty subdued, with a few punches here and kicks there. That said, I had forgotten, that Kenneth Branagh actually did showcase some of that Thor power. He get to spin around his hammer against the Jotuns, he did get to use a little lightning, and he did get to fly. He even flew through the Giant Frost monster similarly to how he did it in Ragnarok. I think, his power was showcased better in Thor, than in any of the Avengers movies, which is where they depowered him. To me, Thor is in many ways, the silent warrior. It kind of feels like a small movie, maybe it’s the New Mexico town that feels like a small set, but its heart is big, and it shows in some of the performances by Natalie, and Anthony Hopkins, and Tom Hiddleston. He was great here, and I loved how his character was so deceitful, and how he multiple times would lie to get his will, and set up things. It was Loki as Loki he can be. It’s funny how time can get you forget. I had totally forgotten his Jotun connection, and I liked that arc of his that they had set up. And while the Shield stuff may have outstayed it’s welcome a little, the Earth scenes managed despite of that thanks to the humor and levitaty of Thor coming to grips with a new world. It had a nice balance of that levity and seriousness, and stroke that chord better than many other of our movies.

I'm going to grab my post from last time since it hasn't changed. Happy to see this thread again! Final Fantasy VIII is a high recommendation and favourite from me for many reasons. There's a lot of fantastic traits VIII has that makes it a monster of an RPG. The story follows a 17 year old named Squall Leonhart who was raised in a military school called Balamb Garden. The development of Squall is incredibly interesting as you watch an introverted teenager thrust into situations and grow as a person because of them. Squall's growth is especially noticeable when he meets an upbeat teenager named Rinoa Heartilly whom he takes an interest in. Both have clashing personalities and together both these characters learn from their mistakes and improve throughout the story. The biggest thing about VIII's characters is they have many flaws and feel like real teenagers trying to get through situations that they shouldn't be in. VIII's leads are also contrasted by another small story in the game that follows young adults Laguna, Kiros and Ward who are complete opposites to VIII's young cast. Final Fantasy VIII is an RPG full of lore and content. The game rewards you for exploring and taking time to talk to NPC's with changing dialogue expanding the history behind the games story. The side content is plenty such as Triple Triad, a card game that you can spend hours collecting and modding, hidden boss fights that net you powerful fighting tools, towns that expand on different races within VIII or characters that lived in them and mini games that are silly fun and reward you for completing them. The world is incredibly lively making you feel like you're actually part of a living world. The game blends realism and fantasy in a way that makes it easy to just relax in such a beautiful world. The best aspects from VIII come from it's gorgeous world and character design and of course it's massive and fantastic soundtrack. Each town is memorable with it's own unique structure and mood. The music for each location creates a perfect setting. The game's soundtrack features a variety of different sounds, the gorgeous orchestra and chorus that immediately get's you pumped right from the intro to the relaxing and cozy Balamb Garden theme which then switches to the battle theme Don't Be Afraid making you ready to take what's coming on. There's very little to be dissapointed with when it comes to VIII's vast soundtrack, especially since it was the first Final Fantasy to contain a song with vocals that featured vocalist Faye Wong and composed by Nobuo Uematsu. The character and town designs are European influenced with many choices looking incredibly familiar yet unique in it's own way. Most of VIII's characters wear clothing that is a simple design but still has the fantasy feel and look to it. Each character stands out on their own and can easily be remembered for their design or personality quirks. The Full Motion Video's that use expression and motions to convey the meaning of each scene without words was extremely well done. A lot of VIII's cutscenes felt like short silent films with exciting and emotional moments in each one. There is many iconic moments from these FMV's that will easily be ingrained into players memories such as the Opening fight, The Dance and Ending. Final Fantasy VIII's battle system is quite different from most RPG's due to it's Junction system which links magic to a characters stat when equipped with a particular summon(called Guardian Force in VIII) opening up particular stat increases depending on what magic is placed and where. The system, while easily broken due to Guardian Force abilities and Triple Triad modding, is quite open to player customization and allows for many differenty play styles in VIII keeping it fresh every time. The neat thing about VIII is that the game has an option to avoid Random Encounters, a staple complaint about RPG's, with no punishment if the player decides. The game does however punish players for over levelling by increasing monster levels with Squall. That is also easily avoided if you do not over level Squall. The system does still involve a three party setup with ATB battle but the options available in battle is quite vast. The limit break system is full of fun player interacting specials and the Guardian Forces can be boosted in battle when the ability is purchased. To finish, VIII is an RPG that will not leave you bored. There is plenty to do and lot's of ways to play. There will be music setting the mood wherever you choose to go, dialogue to expand lore, quirky quests that have fun rewards and beautiful locations to explore. This is a must play RPG. A world full of medieval war and politics, what's not to love? The game mixes fantasy and realism perfectly with a deep story about betrayal and corruption. The Job system is full of variety and abilities that will leave you addicted. The soundtrack is another major appeal to an already excellent game and is perfectly suited to each moment leaving you completely engaged to whats unfolding. Some personal favourite tracks would be Under The Stars, The Pervert, Trisection, Battle On The Bridge, Decisive Battle and Run Past Through The Plains if you want to get an idea of how fantastic this soundtrack really is. The game follows a young man named Ramza who is from house Beoulve. What follows is a story of class corruption and clashing of beliefs that force Ramza to make difficult decisions and question his role and morals. He travels with his close friend Delita who was not highborn and is constantly reminded of it by those who were. These two coming from different classes makes for a struggling fight against those with corrupt morals. Tactics is an RPG that you will be invested in for it's incredible story and have a ton of value gameplay wise. Xenogears is a massive game that has so much complexity to it's story and characters. The lead is Fei Wong who starts off in a small peaceful village but when something goes wrong, Fei is soon forced to deal with the consequences of his choices. The game features what they call Gears, giant Mecha's that characters pilot. The battle system features two different types of fighting, one with your characters and one with the characters in their Gears. Each style has it's own combo's and abilities that is unique to each character. The camera can be a little wonky throughout Xenogears but it only can be a bit of trouble when it comes to the platforming sections many of which are simple enough. The music is another top notch RPG soundtrack that will put you right into the games mood. It features two gorgeous vocal tracks sung by Joanne Hogg and composed by Yasunori Mitsuda. The game has a great selection of battle and boss themes and the town themes full of celtic music influence. Pokemon Silver was an incredible game. It took everything great about the previous generation R/B/G/Y and made it so much better. The game is huge with a ton of new pokemon to find and catch. The sprite designs were fantastic and a huge improvement over the previous ones. The story was a great tie into R/B/G.Y with it's option to travel back to Kanto once you completed it's new location, Johto. The game also introduced roaming Pokemon where you could run into these legendary beasts randomly throughout the world thus creating an unexpected aspect to travelling through populated pokemon areas. Silver added many other cool features to the series such as communication with trainers on a cellphone and a Night and Day system that also tied into evolving specific Pokemon. Pokemon music has always been fantastic and this game was no exception. With previous tracks and new combined, Pokemon Silver was always ready to make sure your journey was truly an experience having sounds that perfectly set the tone for the many different type of battles and towns. One of the biggest and most well known RPG's, Final Fantasy VII is an amazing game that was a huge boost for RPG popularity and Final Fantasy as a brand. The game is led by a young man named Cloud Strife who works with a rebel group named Avalanche. The game starts you off with the idea that big companies are ruining the planet and Avalanche is trying to prevent it but soon the game opens up to something far worse than what the cast originally thought, especially when Cloud meets the mysterious Aeris Gainsborough . VII is full of tragedy and dark themes. We lose loved ones, experience identity issues, try to prevent the destruction of the planet and so much more. The gameplay introduced Materia which was a fun system to setting up magic and abilities. The story and cast is one of the best RPG casts out there with plenty of different characters to pick and choose from. While VII is a very dark game, it features quite a lot of quirky moments and humour. The music is quite memorable and while not the greatest Final Fantasy soundtrack it still holds up as a wonderful one. This is one of the must play RPG's. My first Dragon Quest title and what a game to start with. This game had a massive open world that was fully explorable in 3D. The characters were fully voiced and well developed. The mini games were plenty and an easy time consumer that rewarded you with powerful equipment. The Dragon Quest games usually feature pretty straight forward but simple and charming stories so it was pleasant to see both VII and VIII still be completely charming yet have more depth to its characters and plot. There was so much to do in this game that you could spend hours on side content or exploration. This is definitely the DQ title to start with and a fantastic RPG in general. I'm giving this the Underrated rating due to it being absent from many Persona lists. The writing and characters in this are wonderful. This also avoids a lot of the recurring issues that the newer titles have such as weird treatment of female and gay characters, personality types carrying over from game to game and finally the romance system which while fun can also take away from characters to fit the romantic aspect. Even with these issues I still adore the later titles for their stylized appearance and poppy soundtracks but Persona 2 EP is special for it's place of being just before the huge changes that have become most known in the series. The music is great, as most Persona games are and the game features an adult cast which is not common in later games. The story, which is a sequel to the game Innocent Sin( I heavily recommend playing it before EP IF you want to understand some motives and characters) follows a female writer named Maya who begins following rumours that lead her into a chase to find someone. The gameplay has a negotiation system that we saw return in Persona 5 in which you can convince monsters to give you Tarot cards or Items. It's a straightforward system outside of the negotiation system with regular attacks and spells that you can combo together depending on the order and spells used. This is a game I heavily recommend people play, especially if you're a fan of the series but want something with a mature cast and focused character development. Suikoden II is actually incredibly fresh for me since I've just completed it recently. The story and characters are probably one of the most well written in gaming with heart wrenching moments that will make you care for these characters and what happens to them. The soundtrack is enjoyable and fit's the game quite well. The one downside to Suikoden II is that it's a bit of a mess in terms of the localization department and has a few slow downs from certain spells in battle. There's also some glitches that can affect items or characters. Suikoden II's strength is absolutely it's story and the way it is presented along with the character design which is fantastic and one of my favorites considering the game has over a 110+ characters with portraits. If story, characters and art design are important in an RPG to you then you will not be disappointed. The games battle system is simple enough and still quite fun though it doesn't add anything to the genre but that is more than alright for a game with such great writing. The funny thing about Chrono Trigger is that it's not in my top 10 favourite games and barely breaks top 20 for me. So why do I have it in my top 10 essentials? Well it's because I DO think it's an essential RPG and here is why. The game is probably the most well packaged RPG out there. It doesn't do anything better than many other RPG's on individual categories but as a whole it's the most well rounded and one of the easiest to get into as a first. The artstyle is colorful, the cast is charming, the story is interesting and the gameplay is extremely fun. The soundtrack is another great aspect with incredibly memorable themes many of which are character themes. I may not place this game as high as other people do but I do think it's one of the most well made RPG's and absolutely deserves a high spot in this ranking. It's very difficult to find a game that manages to do every part of game well. My first Fire Emblem and by far the most challenging one I have played. The game can be incredibly punishing when you lose units in battle but it makes the fights tense and more strategic. The story is my favorite for the series with it being led by Ike, a young man part of a Mercenary group commanded by his father, Greil. An encounter with a mysterious women set's off events that lead to a harsh journey that will change Ike's life forever. The art style is another fantastic part to this game that is full of variety. Different heights, styles, ages and races can be encountered and recruited. If you love a challenging game with a fantastic story and cast then this game is for you. 11. Final Fantasy X - Final Fantasy X is an amazingly colourful game with an emotional journey following a summoners pilgrimage and her guardians perspective of it 12. Valkyrie Chronicles - Tactical gameplay that is fun and challenging with a great cast 13. Chrono Cross - Amazing soundtrack and world design. A lot of characters to recruit and use 14. Persona 5 - An incredibly stylish and fun game about fighting against society's normalization of many different types of abuse from people in positions of power, particularly adults towards teenagers. 15. Tactics Ogre - Much like Final Fantasy Tactics this has a mature story and fun job system. 16. Kingdom Hearts - This series is greatest for it's battle system and soundtrack 17. Parasite Eve - Incredible horror story with a wonderful soundtrack and fantastic female lead 18. Ys VII - The three party system was a great addition to a wonderful action RPG series and plenty of party styles to choose from 19. Final Fantasy VI - Beautiful soundtrack and an interesting cast and story 20. Paper Mario I also have to give mentions to Vagrant Story for it's challenging battle system, Suikoden for it's story and cast, Front Mission 3 for it's tactical gameplay and mecha customization and Persona 3 and 4 for their additions to the persona series that has become well known. Oh I forgot to add Mario RPG. Really surprised how much I loved this game. Not enough to crack my rankings but it's worth mentioning. Edit: I guess we aren't doing underrated this time. I'll have to switch around my ranking. Me though.

A decent start to the year, here. I had planned on beating a couple more games, but... then I bought Monster Hunter so there goes my progress for a while. For February I had originally planned on buy a FFXIV sub and working through the expansions, but... I have Monster Hunter so that'll probably take up a lot of my game time. I don't plan on buying anything unless it's on sale, so my new game totals shouldn't be going up much, at least. Mainly besides Monster Hunter, I'll probably try to finish my Darkest Dungeon playthrough and work on some shorter Steam games, to hopefully keep my + streak strong. I always need that buffer for the summertime slump... - Games like Uncharted and the newer Tomb Raider titles aren't really for me. I kept the Nathan Drake Collection around only for my boyfriend, and honestly I thought I removed the games from my backlog already. Either way, my boyfriend doesn't want to play them anytime soon, and we can sub to PlayStation Now for a month or two when he does, so I've added the still sealed game to the sell pile. - The first game I tried out when I got my XBO! However, I only had a little fun with the normal gameplay, and the first defense mission soured me on the game so badly (and that was the easiest one!) that I never had the motivation to pick it up again in six months.

Whether you're or wanting to gorgeous creations; I sincerely miss the Fan Art topics we had at the other forum, and I think it's time to bring it back!! A few things. Some of you following me on or have probably seen me posting these; instead of replaying the series, I wanted to draw the heroines of the Final Fantasy series for it's 30th anniversary (hope you like!!). I've been a lifelong series fan, so I took about a couple months to make about 15 portraits and wanted something fans could geek with me over or those who don't play to at least enjoy some pictures. Always had a soft spot for the first Mario RPG. Yoshiyaki is a colour and lighting master and uses it to create some incredible 3D-like depth. There's a good number of VG fanart too~ Nisat is my current art crush for creating some gorgeous Overwatch art, specifically on Symmetra POST SOME ART!!!

Thanks. Its not perfect but its something I think I did good on for a first timer. The photoshop design on the graphics was mine and my wife who is better with vectors and cleanup work polished it to remove any blemishes and touchup any inconsistent spacing or measurement errors. She's really structure oriented and I'm really into design. Came together well even if I can't stop looking at the few things I know I can improve upon. High quality stuff. Very polished and durable vinyls. He quotes based on what you send him. Not only did he do these but my wife was making amiibo NFC cards and we also got sheets of those graphics printed as well to sandwhich NFC chips between blank playing cards to make a custom rolodex of amiibo that took up less space than all of the figures we owned. Everything he printed was already sticker backed too and very good with the adhesives. Dude's work is great and I highly recommend anyone here with questions on getting any gaming graphics printed to email him sometime. He even double checked on me since I had a top plate instead of a stick I needed graphics for in my arcade. He wanted to be certain it was really what I wanted or if I hadn't laid out my holes yet for a stick on the graphic I sent him. So...yeah. You want graphics for a stick, arcade cabinet, card game, or whatever you've designed or need to design graphics for hit him up. He's helpful and does great print service stuff fast and prices based on what you sent him.

ResetEra Tournament every month starting.... ! Every month I will begin a Classic Mode tournament that will last an entire week. Future prizes for future tournaments subject to change but this is where we're starting. I will personally be providing the code. Stop what you're doing, go to , turn off annoying pop-up/guide notifications, make sure Licensed Music is on (off by default, not that there's much of it on Switch). MORE IMPORTANTLY: Change "Pop-Up Score Value" from 1,000 to 1,000,000 Change "Major Pop-Up Score Value" from 1,000,000 to 5,000,000 This will make the tables much easier to play as all those piddly score pop-ups are very distracting and useless. It will be much more satisfying to get those rare big score pop-ups now, too. Optional: turn off "Ball Trails" mute annoying Voice Overs or Music. We keep getting this question since lots of fresh blood is coming in so I've got a handy little guide for you guys based on my SUBJECTIVE opinion as someone who has been playing Zen tables for years. Feel free to elevate the status of a pack based on your interest in the themes or license. I will be grading these tables based solely on how fun they are to play IMO. The best pack on Switch. A great place to start for anyone. 3 varied tables based on 3 different licenses: Doom, Skyrim & Fallout. In Skyrim your progress on the table carries over from game to game. You create a character, acquire loot, fight monsters, level up and travel to cities and dungeons, trying to get through the main quest of defeating all the dragons. Fallout is similar but progress resets after each game. Doom is my favorite. A fantastic 3 pack of well-designed tables that feature big dinosaurs stomping around. Original voices from the films but no original music. Play the soundtrack from YouTube! This is my 2nd favorite pack on Switch Another great pack of 3 tables. In Aliens you'll play through the events of the film in one of Zen's best tables. Original voices, no original music. In AvP you'll play as a Predator fighting xenomorphs and humans alike. In Alien Isolation you'll act out moments from the game. This is a solid, fun pack. Four tables, of which two are pretty good and two are just okay. I enjoy the Family Guy and Bob's Burgers tables but foubd the American Dad and Archer tables lacking. None of them reach the heights ofnthe best tables described above but this is a decent pack for the asking price. A perfect storm of blandness. Back to the Future leads the pack and has some fun stuff going on, but it's severely hurt by a bland presentation, a lack of licensed music, no licensed actor likenesses and lame sound-alike voice actors. E.T. and Jaws also have the same cons but in addition are just very dull to play. Zen has come a long way since these tables made many years ago. The four tables featured in this pack are very mediocre, especially when compared to the above. Probably the worst pack on Switch. Like Zen Classics, these are pretty old tables. Unlike Zen Classics, two are actually prettt solid. Pasha is actually quite excellent, and Biolab is solid and fun. Unfortunately, secrets of the Deep and Rome are total snoozefests. Still, if you don't care for the Balls of Glory Fox Animation shows this is probably a better buy as a $10 4 -pack. Did I say Zen Classics was the worst pack? Well Sci Fi gives it a run for its money. 3 old Zen tables for $10 rather than 4 makes it one of the worst values. Earth Defense Force is better than any of the tables in Zen Classics, but it's still not a great table. Mars is up there with Rome as one of the most boring tables they've ever made. Paranormal is actually pretty good, better than any of the Classics tables, which is a shame because it's not worth $10 alone. While the priciest of the 2-packs, Carnivals & Legends is also the newest and best. Son of Zeus and Adventure Land are both awesome, with the former having you assist Hercules in his battle against Hera and her minions, and the latter having you run through an amusement park. I love this set and if you downloaded PBFX3 when it first launched on Switch you already got it for free! Another high-quality 2-pack that comes strongly recommended. In Wild West Rampage you'll do battle against outlaws and a corrupt sheriff to protect a town, eventually stopping a train heist. Castlestorm is based on Zen's tower defense game and sports a fun medieval fantasy theme with dragons and castle seiges. This two-pack of older Zen tables is actually not bad. Epic Quest is a great table with persistent character progression like the Skyrim table. Excalibur is a little less exciting but solid none the less and features an Arthurian Legend theme. Based on TellTale's Season 1 of TWD. Another solid game, kind of middle-road. Not bad by any means but not near the top, either. Features original voices and missions based on each episode in which you'll have to make some of the decisions from the game which will impact the way modes play. Based on Portal 2, specifically. This is a combo-heavy table with some tricky shotd as portals will send the ball out to unexpected places. I like this one but it does have a sort of bland look to it. The voices from the game are present which helps. I put it on the same level as The Walking Dead. Wait, this is thetable! It also just so happens to be one of Zen's best! This an older one bit it holds up winderfully. It was also given a new coat of paint for PBFX3, the playfield art being vastly improved. Contains Medieval, Classic, Sci fi packs. As the $5 Medieval pack is the only quality one this is a definite no. Contains: Core, Carnivals & Legends, Iron & Steel packs. If the Core set interests you then this is a pretty good deal! Otherwise you're better off getting the other two packs seperately. You can play in table top or with a single Joy-Con attached. Works on your TV or Monitor, too! for PBFX3 newbies: Go into Settings and disable the guide pop-ups. Annoying! Change Pop-up Score value from 10,000 to 1,000,000 and Major Pop-up Score value from 1,000,000 to 5,000,000. That's much better! You can turn off ball trails, mute annoying voice overs and mute music. Classic Mode means no perks, no gimmicks, but you can still level up perks while playing Classic Mode. Handy for tournaments that DO allow perks, these give a huge advantage! Note: You must level up perks on each table for Pinball Beginners: Don't Double Flip - aka don't press both flippers simultaneously Try to control the ball, try to bring it to a stop on the flippers so you can look at the board and plan your next shot. There are many ways to do this. Pinball is mostly skill, not luck. The board is designed to punish a bad shot with the powers geometry and physics Don't be afraid to use the analog stick to nudge! It can dampen ball momentum and change its trajectory. If you do it too much you'll TILT and lose your ball and bonus points, so be careful! Once you have a feel for the shots on a table its time to examine the playfied to see what you should do. Look at the DMD (Dot-Matrix Display) for hints on what to do during modes. Consider reading the rules of the game! When in doubt, shoot at the flashing lights! Relax, have fun, failure is the stepping stone to success and pinball has a STEEP learning curve! Consider playing real pinball somewhere in your town or city! It's even better!

There are no Star Wars or Marvel tables on Switch and The Last Jedi doesn't change that. You'll note that there is no Switch logo in the trailer like there was for Jurassic Park Pinball. Seems that Zen's licensing agreement with Disney doesn't cover Switch.

Title: Summer Gaming Challenge 2018 - Stay Inside and Play Good Games

Every year, a retro gaming community called hosts a special gaming challenge, wherein participants pick 10 games that are considered 'classics' that they haven't played, and try to play them during the summer. Pretty cool, right? Well, I wanted to share the challenge with Era because... I can! And it's fun! You can check out the here, for all of the original rules and whatnot. It's up to you! June 1 - August 31 is the easiest time slot for most, but others may choose the actual beginning of Summer (June 21) to the beginning of Autumn (September 22), or students may pick the end of the Spring semester to the beginning of the Fall semester. Or those in Aussie upside down world may want to just pick some dates during the upcoming months, even though it's Winter. Honestly, that interpretation is going to change for everybody. Since Racketboy is a retro games forum most of those users' choices are going to be retro games. However, you can pick most things that are remembered fondly by many people, even if more recent. For example, some of my choices for previous years include Cave Story, Super Mario Galaxy, Earthbound, and Valkyria Chronicles. don't pick like the new God of War that isn't even a month old yet, but 'modern classics' are definitely viable for this challenge! Of course if you want to get feedback if others think a game is 'classic enough' to put on the list you can ask, but I won't judge :) No problem! I typically only get through about half my list each year. But it's fun trying out some backlog games that fell on the wayside. Updates!! Title: Mental Health ERA |OT| You are not Alone

Welp, I've had an interesting time since last posting. I've been put on a higher dosage of medication, but my pharmacy hasn't had my meds in stock for weeks, so I haven't been taking them, and have no intention of going back on them given the agony that they put me through when adapting back to them. I was supposed to be getting help with my living situation, but I haven't heard from anybody about that. So I've tried pouring myself into getting somewhere with my education again, and this is where it gets fucked up. Three years ago I wasn't eligible to take the Access to Social Science course that I wanted to do, because I didn't have the GCSEs to take it. (I was bullied severely at school and ended up being pulled out of the system by my parents, so never got to take my exams.) Even though the entire point of an Access Course is to serve as an entry level method of getting into higher education (That's why it's called an course!), I was rebuffed and left to stew. That helped kick start my collapse into depression and alcoholism, which led to me losing my fiance and, in turn, led to me trying to take my life at the end of last year. This year they've scrapped the GCSE requirements, you just have to go to an interview and take a Maths and English proficiency exam to ensure you can cope with the studies. This was not an option three years ago. Now, I should be elated that this has changed, that I can go where I wanted to go with my studies, but I'm not. Instead the first thought that cropped up in my head, after applying for the course, was "If they can take me now, why couldn't they before?" All that suffering that I ended up going through, losing all the good things that I had in my life, all of that happened for no reason at all. Life can be a cruel fucking joke sometimes, I swear.

Title: 52 Games. 1 Year. 2018.

This is my main post! Steamworld Heist (NSW) God of War (PS4) Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (GBC) - Just as fun the second time, although it was hard not to quarterback. Exactly as long as it needed to be. Very smooth game with incredible flow and progression. The story just didn't with me. Geddit? Unlike Braid I feel like this doesn't hold up after its initial hype. It came at a time when games like this just didn't exist, but now in a world where there are dozens of indie games exploring all sorts of weird things, this game fails at really doing anything particularly unique. What a wonderful mix of Pokemon and FF12 style combat. And the characters an world is absolutely charming. Falls short on the narrative front for me a little bit, but not moreso than any Ghibli movie does in delivering a really coherent plot. Thoroughly enjoyable form beginning to end A very interesting story, and one that can only really be told in our medium which is something I'm always happy to see. I'm loving this evolution of what is essentially the video game equivalent of Short Stories. I think I just didn't get it. Puzzles were kinda meh, didn't really challenge me. Very few "a-ha" moments that gave me that clicking-into-place feeling I look for in puzzle/adventure games. Still glad I played it, and I enjoyed for the most part. Just unfulfilling. Maybe that was the point? My god the unskippable dialogue and puzzles on repeat playthroughs just any sense of narrative clarity this game could've had. I ended up enjoying the story it was telling, but just barely after wading through the quagmire that is the gameplay. Unlike Edith Finch I feel like this would've been a story better left to a choose-your-own-adventure novel. More Shovel-Knight goodness, although I felt it lacked the precision and skill of the previous two iterations. Most boss fights became trivial after a few abilities were unlocked. Narrative reinforced by gameplay isn't something that is done often, and when it is it isn't necessarily done well. Celeste absolutely nails what it is trying to do. The main campaign was enough for me, I have no desire to do B-Sides or anything more difficult. I did beat Pico-8 though. This is a cute little puzzle game which can be played multiplayer. Now I only played it multiplayer, and I feel that if you play it by yourself you don't get the same feel out of the game. Playing with someone else causes you to mess up more often and mess with each other to hinder their progress (as well as your own mind you!!), and thus hilarity ensues. This game definitely has some problems, I know it's not supposed to be the easiest game to play and your character flops around like jelly, but sometimes them mechanics fuck you over rather than just making it a difficult challenge. Had to reload from the checkpoint multiple times due to things not being usable again, or moving something you shouldn't have, falling to your death and not being able to retrieve it (luckily the checkpoint function is there, and it does save regularly). It also crashed once when attempting to reload a checkpoint, this may have been due to someone re-spawning when it was chosen to be reloaded. Overall a fun game to play with friends with some small problems you'll probably get over and laugh about when playing it with them. A lovely VN with four cute girls in a literature club in school all fighting to be your one and only waifu, and in the end Overall the game was kinda annoying and repetitive (especially the first playthrough), but I could see it was building to something. Now I played this game after the hype, so I knew there was a twist, and it was going to be weird and creepy, but I feel like all that hype ruined it and it wasn't as over the top as it was made out to be. I did like the little things they did with the game files, and considering this is a free game it's made really well and is quite good! I also feel that the game handles their whole thing on mental illness a bit strangely, one second they can be making jokes about it, the next you have one of them saying nice things and to take care of each other, I just feel they could have used less of the jokes there. In the end it was a decent experience and I think anyone that has steam should also be creeped out by the weird school girls!! This game is something unique to it with you being someone going through a computer system, looking into old videos about a murder. But it being unique doesn't make it a great game, while the story itself is quite interesting it falls flat almost everywhere else. It seems unrealistic for a police system to have all of it's videos not organised, or for there to be nothing else mixed in if you're doing a search for it. The videos were kinda well done, although some of the acting didn't seem very good. I felt it was padded out by the fact that you had to look up specific words to get new videos, and also kinda broken in the fact that if you put anything in comments or tags of a video it could mess up the searching and leave you not seeing some of the videos. Also them being all over the place makes it kind of difficult to follow, but I suppose that's the point to have you put the story together yourself. And finally at the end (after it deleted my save and I have to get all the videos again, with a guide this time) it just kind of ends, says something "shocking", but it just seems quite boring that it just ends. Overall it had a good story, bad ending and meh mechanics. ... This is the first Monster Hunter game that I've ever played properly. I didn't really like the others and gave up on them quite soon after beginning them. This one seemed different, it might have been because the graphics were better and no loading between areas, or I just didn't give the other ones enough of a shot. The game itself doesn't have a great or huge story, but the mechanics for fighting the monsters are good and there's such a range of weapons to choose from and to try. There's not that many monsters and you feel like you're left fighting the same ones over and over, but I can give them the benefit of the doubt because they're adding more as time goes on. The online community (on the PS4) I've had no problems with (except for the odd really crap player) and it's great to be able to call for people to help you or to help others on something difficult, or even just something you want to finish quickly. Overall it's an enjoyable game which gives a lot of incentive to keep playing, as I'm still playing it now, with 130h and counting. This is a short bonus episode after Before the Storm which tells you of Max and Chloe's last day together. It doesn't give you any important details or story information, but gives you the chance to wander around and figure out what both characters were like before both seasons, and overall what went wrong when it came to Max leaving. It was enjoyable to play, and the ending, although it was known from season one, it wasn't really expected in this episode, making the whole goodbye even more heartbreaking than before by getting shown how they left it. Overall a good episode, and would definitely say anyone who likes the game should play it. I started this game back in 2016 but only got around to finishing it now in order to play the second one (which I have to play season one again anyway -_-) It's a quick paced action game following the first season of the Attack on Titan anime. You play as a variety of characters, each with different stats which can change the way you might have to play in order to control the situation. Each mission is basically the same, where you swing around, kill titans, help allies and then the bigger titan appears and you kill them. It basically continues in this way, with a few small exceptions. Overall it is a good and enjoyable game, yet repetitive, and to play the epilogue you need to do a lot of optional content, which pushed it's stars below a four. I had this game almost as soon as it came out originally on PS3 and I had gotten to the final Jeanne fight and I got stuck, and I gave up because I didn't know I could lower the difficulty at the time. And then I got the collection of the WiiU, and never got a chance to play it. And now after so many years I finally finished it on the Switch. I love this game's fighting, character designs, and art style. It's a bit confusing on the story sometimes but it generally came together, and sometimes the fights didn't seem fair. But overall I can't believe it took me so long to finish, and when I finally did I wasn't disappointed The story of A Way Out is the usual one when it comes to a prison escape, so there's nothing new and exciting there. The most interesting thing in this game is the coop gameplay. This can't be played by yourself and you need someone to play with, and honestly without this mechanic the game would be closer to 2 stars. You have to work together with your partner to escape, while also competing against each other in small minigames throughout the story (like piano, banjo, wheelchair balancing and connect four). This is what brings the game to life, some competition and cooperation with someone (in my case) you know, which makes the game more fun to play. But in the end any decision you make means nothing, and the ending (one of two) is decided in the end by which of you can mash 'x' faster, that's all it comes down to, it's very anti-climatic, and if it wasn't for this I would have easily given this game four stars, but instead I reluctantly gave it 3 and a half.

Red Text: Thor: The Dark World

I rewatched right after Thor, which is probably my third time seeing it. It’s not a bad movie. It’s just impeccably bland and uninteresting. For one, many scenes are set on Earth and while nothing happens here (besides the portals in the third act), they don’t even have the humor that worked in the first Thor. While Erik Selvig is dealing with the aftermath of his brain wash, the way it goes about this doesn’t really work, and for me seems out of character, even if he is clearly mentally ill. Darcy is good levity, and I think she works, but her intern doesn’t. Jane is the last Earth-based character, and I like how her arc bring her to outer space and sees her infected with the aether. It is interesting and it builds a little tension, but then the movie drops the ball entirely with the main plot. The Convergeance is fine, and it’s a very nice set up, but Malekith the villain has no compelling motivation. It’s just not there, and all it comes down to is revenge on the Asgardians and to see the universe wiped with darkness. It’s a good stick for the character, and the connection between him, the aether and Jane is a solid one, but the execution is lackluster, and Malekith is given no time whatsoever. Time is instead wasted on Earth scenes, when they could have expanded Malekith. What works, is Loki as the anti-villain. He was great in Thor, and is the greatest part about The Dark World, with his mischievousness, ultimately dealing with his own plan of overtaking the throne. The Dark World continues building on top of the beautiful world created by its predecessor, adding wonderful flying Viking ships, some very nicely looking dark elves ships that we get to see close up, and expanding the world with a look at Vanaheim and putting Thor up to clean up the realms. They actually give Frigga a worthy end by showing her capable at fighting, and ending it nicely with an Asgardian ceremony that could have been more emotional with a more hitting score and visuals, but still sets out to do what it planned on doing decently. See, Thor: The Dark World is definitely not a bad movie, it’s just incredibly bland and uninteresting, and that’s a shame when it succeeds in expanding the world and giving us striking scenery. But that more than anything is a testament to the strength of Marvel Cinematic Universe, that a bottom three movie isn’t bad per se, and still an easy watch.

I rewatched , and I really think there’s a bunch of beautiful shots in here. The cinematography is pretty good for what we got in the MCU. Even Thor’s action looks good, and there’s a lot of times when our heroes work together, like when Thor punches his hammer into Cap’s shield to create an energy blast, or when Natasha rides Hulk up the cliffs. I love the scenes at the farm, and when they are evacuating the Sokovian civilians. I think the bad things are that Whedon’s used too much humors, and it’s not really the quips I got a problem with, just that he could have out scenes that was there for levity and sometimes I didn’t work - like when Quicksilver gets shot in the arm, and the police force gives him a stare like “it wasn’t me,” but other times it works, like when he runs into a station and tells everyone to evacuate, when nobody listens, he runs back and fires off a machine gun. That worked. He could have cut out scenes like Thor little side trip to the holy water. But on this rewatch I noticed many of the plots really do work. The whole intro in the forest when they invade Baron von Strucker’s base is probably one of the best scenes in the entire MCU. The twins plot interwove perfectly into the main plot. The plot with Klaue in Africa works. Hell, the entire first hour is perfect. I love how Ultron was in the network, and not so much one physical presence, but instead saw himself like a God, that wanted to tear down humanity in order to create something better. Ultron was a good villain, had it not been for the quips he uses in specific places. Had he been more menacing in presenting himself like at the party scene - which was another perfectly shot scene - he could have been one of the greatest. I didn’t mind the whole Jarvis vs Ultron thing, I admit it is a bit out there, but I can forgive it as we are already dealing with an infinity stone giving him life. The whole way Infinity power was a big deal of the plot was fantastic too, and I loved how Vision was created with vibranium, and how Ultron’s final body was created with vibranium I assume, or was it just ordinary metal? I know his final legion must have been made of standard metal seeing how easily the Avengers tears them apart. Age of Ultron was much better on this rewatch. Can I say how great the scene is where Tony is brainwashed with one of Wanda’s visions and we see the dead Avengers and Chitauri fly into a portal. That’s probably a top 5 beautiful shot in the MCU right there. Oh yeah, more Doctor Helen Cho please. We better see her in Infinity War working on some groundbreaking science stuff, maybe bring Shuri into her lab at the Avengers headquarters for a movie or two. I kind of wish Quicksilver wasn’t killed off. I mean, it’s great to see our heroes can also die, but could have had a great brother-sister relationship here. I can forgive it now though, since we got T’Challa-Shuri, so he was a nice one-movie hero at least. One last thing. I found myself confused as to where in the world I were during the transfer of Vision in the truck in South Korea. And I think that stems from it having a yellow tint to it, like we had during the Hulkbuster vs Hulk fight in Africa, and the yellow tint in Sokovia.

This community thread is supposed to be a more laid back place than usual Etc threads, and not a spot for spilling stupid conspiracy theories that we get confronted with all the time, especially from toxic places outside the forum that have grudges against us and the community. Seeing how members I like and respect try to get at the staff from a similar angle is disappointing and in some cases warranted action (which broke my streak of not doing any moderation work in this thread at all dammit). There is definitely a lot we can improve, but feedback should be communicated through appropriate channels (NOT community threads) and not through sub-posts and jabs that do not have any constructive information for us to work with. This is why we mostly avoided having a public moderation feedback thread, even though I feel the current system of asking members to PM either SweetNicole, Selina or Hecht re: moderation issues seems to be too overwhelming and complicated for the majority. These thread derails can escalate pretty quickly and take the energy out of threads, and I would like to ask y'all to knock it off, for the sake of this thread which is important to both you and me. Red Text: The latter seems to be a consequence of the rather loose definition of the "thinking" rule, so let's try this: its purpose is to discourage screenshots like the example provided. There's nothing inherently wrong with screenshots of regular gameplay, even if the game in question has an in-built photo mode.

I imagine that's because the "lazy" image loading behaviour that's currently enabled makes the thread a bit of a pain to browse, and I also think it's partially due to the occasional mild drama these threads have a history of attracting when somebody attempts to police the direction of it and designates him/herself judge and jury of what constitutes a screenshot worth sharing.

You see, this is about the destructive nature of prejudice and all of it that entails and within this focal point called "gaming", just from GamerGate to (perhaps) 45 up to now with Colin, it has been a "fascinating" experience on how horrendous your fellow citizens can actually become even with digesting the most blatant of behaviors. Colin being insensitive to one's identity is not an island. Add in the spotlight that Colin has and it has potential reinforcement of the idea that, ultimately, disenfranchised citizens' concerns & existences are not worth anything, not even thought. Rather Colin intentionally does this or not, it does not change the fact that he is hanging around the same rotten tree that enables those who actually went out and burned crosses in front of the houses of black families. So, when the marginalized alone see the stuff Colin been spouting that makes him a horrible human being, they're being reminded that their homenland wants them down, gone, and/or dead; that their cries are being shut down through his idiotic and (perhaps) malicious comments. So, when the why we're here mingles with someone who blatantly contributes (intentionally or not) to those ideologies, those concerned community members are going to worry about about such a contribution validating what wants to them. And if anybody here who keep spouting that this is about opinions after all of this, let alone in the past, maybe, two weeks now, I don't know what else to tell you (if you're actually ignorant instead of a troll) but other then actually try to step into the shoes of those who were insulted by Colin's inflammatory words (let alone harassed by his fans). I just calibrated for gaming and left it like that. I'm pretty happy with things the way they are, even if the blacks aren't as deep. Nope, 60Hz @ all resolutions. It's not scaling 1080p to 4K in PC games like it does for consoles, and I think that's the main reason the image quality isn't as nice. I can't seem to get the TV to scale 1080p up to 4K in the same manner through my PC; scaling via GPU or Display produces the same result. Even with AA on max, things look a little off. It's not too dissimilar to using non-native resolutions on most PC monitors, although it's definitely not quite as bad. It could very well be that this is just how 1080p looks for PC games. I might just get a GTX 1080Ti when I replace my aging CPU + mobo and game in glorious 4K. Update: I tried selecting fullscreen display scaling in nVidia control panel and then selecting windowed fullscreen in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided at 1080p. No diff. Exclusive Fullscreen switches to 1080p output, and it looks the same as windowed.: . IQ at 4K is obviously going to be superior, and losing half the pixels is going to produce a less crisp image. I don't know what I expected. Mine isn't perfect, either. Perhaps not as bad as that, but I've seen a similar effect. I believe this is pretty common with these sorts of panels, and it's a bit of a lottery to get a perfect unit. It doesn't bother me at all as I don't notice it all in gameplay, or while watching TV / movies.
