What separates games like mario (and most Nintendo games) from kingdom hearts is the lack of focus on narrative. Nintendo games are mostly about the gameplay where it seems kingdom hearts pushes this awkward story that somehow makes me cringe harder than that laughing scene from final fantasy 10. But it’s fine if you feel enlightened for enjoying something intended for kids.
