Your argument stands stronger when you focus on your personal experience of disappointment. Don't pre-empt to speak on behalf of all females. There were 20 odd women in my CS community which I played in for 10+ years (RIP Club Axia, still miss you) that I'm comfortable saying wouldn't give a flying toss about what character they played as.
