This post by Fudoh explains in details what Dreamcast does with its video signal: The actual aspect ratio of DC games is not a true 4:3. It's about ~7% narrower than 4:3. This can be considered an error or whatever, but that fact is: that's how Shenmue was designed. Those who don't care, just carry on. I'm posting this only to prove that Dreamcast consoles displayed the game this way on typical CRT TVs of its era.
